Yes, Freddie said that he liked attractive people.
I would say that Freddie, George and Elton - the greatest artists in this category, and among the greatest of all time

Thats great, the response, but as great as Freddie was, he was in the closet up to his death, so does he count and Michael Stipe only came out in the late 90s after REM's heyday. Still good to get Cole Porter and Noel Coward, now they had talent. Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

I don't have one that is of all time, but some favourites are
George Michael Boy George Freddie Mercury
I don't really know if Madonna, Janet and Gaga are bi or not or if it's just for publicity, but if so, then yeah I count them too.

I consider this to be one of the most impotant songs of gay culture.
Something I love about Bronski Beat is how open they were, George Michael, Elton, Michael Stipe and Freddie were all closeted in their peaks when they could have sent a really great message. 2012: The Queen Returns

My vote's for Antony. If only because his voice & singing style is so unique and beautiful.
Another person I'd add to the contender's list is Alejandro Fernandez.

George Michael by far. His music takes me to another place. Only about a handful of other artists can do that. Still amazed that hid it for so long. Sure had us fooled with I Want Your Sex.

I did allow transgender and intersex people as well, so yes they count. Freddie I thought I have been too harsh, yes he did only explore his gay side from about 1980 onwards (I am not 100% sure) and he had Mary Austin, but he also became gayer and more proud as the 80s wore on. He had a partner Graham Hutton (An Irish Hairdresser) who loved him for the last 6 years of his life and at that stage, Mary was merely executor of the will (Hutton wrote a tell all book called "Mercury and Me"). By 1986 Freddy was at Garden Lodge (His home) and living with Graham and his own gay friends Joe Fannelli, Peter Freestone (A jovial gay giant he called Phoebe), and ever increasing number of pampered felines (The song Delilah is about his favourite Garden Lodge feline) and had gay parties and get togethers. He got AIDS that year and that was part of the reason the touring stopped. Freddie knew a lot of Queens fans were macho types and would not like a coming out announcemnet. But technically he died gay. Same with Stype, apparently he went off girls. However the rest of REM are straight as far as I know, so they do not really count.
For the purists who would exclude Mercury, it seems George Michael is easily #1, with Mercury he is #1 and Michael #2.
Good to see people mentioning Indigo girls, Cole Porter and Turkish singer Zeki Muran (I had heard of him). Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

Whether they admit it, or try experiments with the opposite sex to throw off suspicion, homosexual or lesbian it what it is. WTH is bi-sexual anyway? A sex act does not necessarily determine one's sexuality.
