and why did the Billboard ad call her Alvin?

I like this song but I prefer some of their other tracks more ("More Than You Can Handle", "Attention Addict" and "For You").

It's a shame they didn't have more success. The only performance I know of by them was on 1 episode of Soul Train but I'm not old enough to have been able to watch it back then lol and I haven't found a clip online yet.

and Lushus Daim was quite the foxy lady! Not quite on Vanity's level, but I'm sure she turned plenty of heads in her day.

I remember reading articles about Lushus in Right On! and Black Beat magazines and I put the pictures on my wall I really thought she would be a major star but after "The One You Love",I never heard anything else about her.

Lushus Daim & The Pretty Vain

Lushus Daim was a female R&B singer from the mid-80's. Not much information is given on her, but she was on the Motown\Conceited Records label and released only one album.
In 1985, she released the album, "More Than You Can Handle" under the name "Lushus Daim & The Pretty Vain" which managed to peak at #52 on Billboard's R&B Albums chart.
The first single, "The One You Love" was released and managed to peak at #65 on Billboard's R&B charts. The title song was also released as a single, but it's unknown how well it did. After that, it seemed as if Lushus Daim has practically seemed to fallen off the face of the earth and into obscurity.

She was on Motown Records at the same time that Vanity was.It seems that Motown chose to focus more on Vanity,which is why Lushus didn't get the promotion she deserved.

Did you ever see their Soul Train performance? All I know is it was on the same episode as New Edition when they performed "Count Me Out" in 1985. I wanna know how Lushus looked live lol.

No,I never saw that Soul Train performance.In fact,I never saw any live or TV performance by Lushus Daim.I heard that one single on the radio and saw the video,then she just disappeared.

There's a name I haven't seen in a very long time. I remember seeing this cover in the wrecka stow, though I don't remember her material. The wrecka stow owner pointed out her cover to me. The guys liked it.

Her Soul Train performance was how I first heard her two singles. I do remember seeing the video for "The One You Love" later. I made a mental note at the time to get the album if I ever saw it cheap anywhere, but never did. The melody for "The One You Love" continues to go through my head occasionally to this day.

it's a very memorable,hypnotic melody.A really great song that deserved to be a hit.
