Atlantic Starr Unsung Thread http://tvone.tv/unsung-vi...mB1akr1QXX
Premieres on Monday. Here's another group I never knew much about outside of their music. I've been seeing previews for the past few days. Apparently, when Barbara Weather joined the group, she was dating one of the Lewis brothers, which reaked all kinds of havoc within the group. Hmmmmm. I'm also interested in finding out why A&M made a bigger push to cross the group over to Pop audiences after Sharon Bryant exited.

I look forward to this episode mainly because of Sharon Bryant. Barbara was dating Wayne during her tenure with the group. After Barbara went solo it was one female lead after another. Don't laugh at my funk

Looking forward to this episode but I wonder if they interview Sharon Bryant as well. I guess the better question to ask is who was the better lead singer for the group Sharon or Barbara?
I have to go with Barbara Weather.

You'll have to wait on Jan 30 for the Full Force ep. Can't wait for Atlantic Starr's ep, I wanna see what happened between them and Sharon Bryant.

I liked Barbara but she had more of a softer, Pop voice. Sharon was a R&B belter!!! So, I'll have to go with Sharon on this one!!!! "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley

Atlantic Starr, Starpoint and Midnight Star were all interchangeable to me "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

No, I mean Midnight Star-they did "Freakazoid." "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

Atlantic Starr was the better and most memorable out of those groups.

Sharon Bryant could SANG! She was gritty and could get down. You ever heard "My Turn Now" or "You're the One?" Man, hold up! (LOL)

I would take Sharon over Barbara any day too...

Sharon could sing the alphabet and it would be good! She is an awesome vocalist!

I saw Starpoint and Atlantic Starr on the same show back in the mid eighties and Starpoint's show was definitely better. Atlantic Starr was very bland with Barbara Weathers to the point they literally put me to sleep. Midnight Star would smoke Atlantic Starr like a mutherfuckin pack of Kools. That said i look forward to this episode but i liked the Sharon Bryant era a lot better. Don't laugh at my funk

Okay so tell me if I got this right....
I absolutely love the songs: "When Love Calls", "Circles" and "Touch a Four Leaf Clover". So these songs were the ones featuring Sharon Bryant correct?
I find these songs to be absolutely cheesy and despise them: "Always", "Secret Lover", "If Your Heart Isn't In It". These songs are the ones featuring Barbara Weathers? Cause these are the tunes that put me to sleep. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Missfee, you are correct about the Sharon Bryant songs. In my opinion, I thought the band was more funky and rhythmic when Sharon was the lead singer. Not to take anything from Barbara Weathers, but when she became lead singer the band not only went adult contemporary and pop, but they dropped some of their core members. In all honesty, after their 1987 album I stopped listening.

I definitely prefer the Sharon Bryant years to the ones with Barbara Weathers. Apart from Freak-a-Ristic, Silver Shadow and Cool, Calm Collected, there wasn't too much from that time with Barbara Weathers that I really liked to what they had before. And Barbara was dating Wayne Lewis during her time with the group?! I'll be tuning in this ep for sure.
