That version of Brown Sugar sounds like the Time. I can definitely see why he originally hired Jesse to be in his band. That Minneapolis Influence is definitely showing.

I don't know....these performances don't do but so much for me. They really just look and sound like he's just mimicking Prince from the old days, but just not quite as good. I mean, he's all right and all (at least he's tryin'), but I definitely don't get this "R&B Jesus" and other "savior" type comments/compliments being thrown his way.

The man puts out 2 albums in 16-17 years, so I really don't get all the "best thing since..." praise. Talented? Yes. And, some of this stuff does sound cool and all. But he REALLY needs to do a whole lot more in his career, on record and on stage, before I start giving him the keys to the R&B/Soul Kingdom.
