Checkmate and game.

That picture is supposed to be evidence of his sexual orientation? !!!!!

So there is no other possible explanation? Like playing around?

Black artists aren't the only ones with beef. At the VMA's, Tommy Lee and Kid Rock had beef. Kid Rock punched Tommy Lee. Jamie Foxx was the host, and said it was white on white crime. Not to offend anybody, just repeating what was said.

Quite a few battles were over a woman,so I wouldn't be surprised. Cherchez La Femme, trouble over a woman.

Yeah everyone beefs. But I guess with black people, we get up in arms because "we're supposed to be better than that". Fuck that lol

eek smh

And this is the type of bullshit that is supposed to be so damn great that funk can't make it onto the radio. Low class trash throwing racial slurs around and using a tired ass word like "sweet". I suppose that's supposed to a gay slur? He just hasn't been around many of us because if he had been, he'd know that as evil and vengeful as we are, the last thing we are is "sweet". I have always found it hilarious that these shit hoppers have the nerve to use gay slurs when the majority of them have never recorded even one song faster than a fucking Liza Minelli record.

Co-sign. And I bet they both have shaved dicks, too.

The lack of real, slammin´ Funk on the radio in the style of Cameo, ZAPP, Midnight Star, the Whispers, Rick James is baffling me. I mean, I don´t expect those old or dead dudes to still be played 24/7 on the radio but come on, at least there could be SOME young folks who kinda continue with this artform and create some new millenium Funk, but no...you really have to dig very deep these days to find some obscure new Funk groups somewhere on the internet...but THIS kind of shit is in the news? Dudes who use racial slurs or broken grammar and homophobia, and then still have the nerve to pretend to be nice guys? Gimme a break.

I like some of Common´s songs but he´s not all that he thinks he is. He should know better. I´m getting a bit tired of his anti-gay shtick.

falloff I bet they have shaved dicks too. It trips me out how these rappers try to portray such a hard and "manly" role but when pictures of their dicks get leaked out, they're shaved. I can just see them sitting in a tub somewhere with a razor looking like a woman shaving her legs. But yet they're supposed to be so manly. Yeah right.

Andy is a four letter word.

When I read that, I thought the same thing and using the 'n' word like water dripping from a faucet, just because he can. I would think because he is older, he could send a much, wiser message to Drake, rather than venting like someone with no 'common' (no pun intended) sense.

Same thing I said. Com come on now! But I'm not surprised a bit.

ditto. but i am surprsied that common would do this. it seems out of character for him.

I honestly didn't mean to bump up this old thread. Sorry 'bout that. I was trying to respond to a different one and somehow......well, it was late. lol But since it's up again, let me just add a few things:

I don't know why anyone would be surprised by Common going in on Drake or think he's too old to do it. lol It's hip hop. You're never too old or too young to get some. The way I saw it, "Sweet" was just another way of saying that hip-hop has gone too soft. There's no edge, no competition to be the best emcee. I don't think Common was necessarily saying there's something wrong with singing, as he has singers on hooks and all that. I thought he was just missing that boom bap element. But the blogs made it seem like he was targeting Drake.

And even after Common said repeatedly that the song wasn't about him, Drake kept poppin off so Common said look, if you feel that offended maybe it is about you. Drake then did that sub-diss on Stay Scheming and Common addressed him directly.

It aint like Common doesn't have history of speaking his mind about hip hop. That's how he and Ice Cube got into it and went a couple rounds back in the day. I like to see that type of passion as long as it remains a battle and not a beef. Hip hop could use more of it IMO. Today everyone does "subliminal" disses, throwing rocks and hiding their hands. Where's the boldness?

Also I never thought this was about Serena. She seemed to like the idea of being the cause of this tho, tweeting Common all of a sudden. I doubt either is thinking about her silly self tbh.

Since Drake said he wouldn't reply anymore, they ended up squashing this at the Grammys & then Drake went over & talked to him at the All-Star game. Short-lived but at least we got a few verses. lol
