A FOLEY Update
Some years ago I did a Foley-Miles-Music-Movies post. Within that post I made the following statement.
You've really gotta hear it to believe it.
She appeared to be the only one to escape the dreaded Auto-Tune. Last month Foley sent me an email letting me know that he had finally uploaded the version I referred to in the original post. ...Foley on Lead Bass. He mentioned it was the first time he'd been inspired to pick that particular instrument up again since the Miles Davis band. Enjoy! I discovered this Foley dude while looking for Miles Davis interviews on Youtube - I enjoy Miles' speaking voice......a lot!
There's a clip of Miles Davis doing a VH1 show with Foley. From there I just started looking for vids of Foley. I found one clip of him playing the bass to a Marvin Gaye song. It was good.
Is there a remake of Barry White's "I Can't Get Enough Of Your Love" on this cd? It has El Debarge and George singing using autotune.
"Mathematics of Love" sounds good!

Glad he finally unleashed it to the public. It was difficult not being able to turn people on to it those few years.
You can describe it, but there's nothing like hearing it.

It's actually Never Gonna Give You Up. I still don't understand forcing Auto-Tune on someone who can actually sing.

Foley is one of my favorite cats. True story: He drove 9 hours from Columbus, Ohio to play live on our radio show for 4 hours.. Brought a 12 string guitar, a drummer who played on a wooden chair in the studio, and a female vocalist. Foley played live, spun live Miles Davis and Foley tracks, talked about engineering for Prince on tour, and we even kibitzed about our mutual love for Seinfeld show. The kicker was that after the show he drove back 9 hours to Columbus the same night.
I caught up with Foley at two recent P-Funk shows here in Connecticut. He is playing drums in George's bands.

Had the timing been different (when this was recorded)..this would have been a genius bonus track for TAPOAFOM. Funk Is It's Own Reward | |

Thanks for posting this Audience..I haven't talked to him in a while and I'm stunned to hear Foley play his lead bass again! Especially on this cut with Kim...Its true that he hasn't played those guitars in quite some time..9 times out of ten he's playing his white Jazz that plays sweet! I'm still trying to set my bass up to play like it! Like everything else he touches..this is brilliant! U gotta hear his versions of Manic Depressive and Head by P...its the funkiest sh#% u ever heard! Foley is a bad-ass musically and an interesting cat in general. I'll be catching up with him in a couple of weeks.
