Love every track.
But after hearing the album so many times over the years, these two have become favorites.

...

This was my introduction to the world of FZ....

I know people hate the word, "Fusion" but IMO, Frank Zappa is one of the pioneers of merging Jazz and Rock...

Never heard this album so thanks for posting.

I remember taking acid to a Zappa album back in ye olde days, I think it was called "Guitar" and was (what sounded like but probably was nothing like) an hour and a half of nothing but guitar solos, it was shitting brilliant.

"Hot Rats" was played in the room as my wife gave birth to my son Zappa who will be a year old on the same birthdate as Elvis and Bowie!

i recognise zappa as a brilliant musician but i have yet to really ''get'' his recorded work....i havent heard that much i admit...i will sit down and listen to ''hot rats'' ...i find what i have heard as very lightweight...his ''joke'' songs are fun but it wears a bit thin when you want to hear some great songs.....any tips on what are his ''great'' tracks ..other than the comedy stuff...the most impressive track i have heard so far is ''watermelon in easter hay''...

Hot Rats is fantastic, maybe too fantastic. I love the album but it is so good that his other similar albums (The Grand Wazoo, Waka/Jawaka and the King Kong album with Jean-Luc Ponty) pale slightly in comparison. Still, I would have loved it if he had done more music like Hot Rats.
