If that's the case then they should harass every single person who is NOT a vegetarian .confused

Janet's career is not dead confused , if it's dead , they wouldn't talk about her

I just don't get it. Personally, I've never liked leather....especially on car interiors EWW disbelief . I think dried cow skin is waay more disgusting to wear than animal pelts but that's just me. I don't really like silk or wool either (even though sheep aren't killed in the shearing process).

DON'T tell me you didn't read the liner notes to Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic! razz

"If this jacket were real wool, it would have taken 7 lambs whose lives would have begun like this...Within weeks of their birth, their ears would have been hole-punched, their tails chopped off and the males would have been castrated while fully conscious. Xtremely high rates of mortality r considered normal: 20 2 40% of lambs die b4 the age of 8 weeks: 8 million mature sheep die every year from disease, xposure or neglect."

lol Those are just bad sheep farmers. It's very sad though because hygiene and proper care and proper vaccinations would keep much of that mortality rate from happening. Bad bad shepherds hmph!

I'm sorry, but your repeated claims that meat is necessary in our diet is bullshit. I do respect the way you've structured your diet and have no problem with it, but that's no reason to go around spreading flat-out lies. You can go around talking about these claims not being fully proven and blah blah blah, but at the end of the day, NO diet has been "fully" proven. Vegetarians live just as long and healthy lives as anybody else. Although I don't buy a lot of the claims about it being some kind of magical superdiet that will prevent every and all illness, there's no reliable evidence that it's any worse than the average American diet. Indeed, it's typically BETTER than the average American diet. The only competition there really is is a vegetarian diet vs. an omnivorous diet that excludes red meat and fried meats. Sure, there are some vitamins you have to be careful to get enough of, but even your typical omnivore doesn't get all their vitamins. In my experience it's made me much more aware of the vitamins I need and where I can get them. The main problem for vegetarians remains vitamin B12, which is easy to supplement (and, interestingly, is not a problem in countries such as India where the water supply is less heavily sanitized). I've been vegetarian since I was a child, regularly get my blood levels tested, and have never had a deficiency. My blood actually typically tests as having higher iron levels than most people.

Also, there's evidence that a low-fat vegan diet may be the best diet around for managing Type 2 diabetes. In fact, a lot of people in my heavily meat-eating family have been diagnosed with diabetes at a much younger age than I am now. There's no reason in this day and age to say a vegetarian diet is unhealthy or unproven. Go to Google Scholar and type in "vegetarian diet." Nothing there suggests vegetarianism is unhealthy or unsustainable. With veganism, there are more concerns, but even there they're not insurmountable (and most researchers will tell you that calcium's role is far from certain, as East Asians are often lactose intolerant and consume far less dairy yet have lower rates of osteoporosis than western countries).

Humans has been around for about 200,000 years ago. Natural history teachs that much. I never said that meat is necessary in our diet, but it never been fully proved otherwise. Maybe it's not. But some genetic damages caused by the lacking of the kind of food or 2 much of others, that is different from what humans eated during all this years of evolution would have on the future generations is still unknown. It would take more than at least 100 years of studies on the individuas 2 maybe come 2 a conclusion. I learned what I know from reading books and the University of Biomedics, google is not a valid source for this kind of information unless U get 2 the few sites that have credibility to talk about sciences.

that's the effect u get when people's brain can't process information...go get it...it seems 2 suit u. I never edited anything here becuz I changed my mind but becuz I wanted 2 add something else. I have nothing 2 hide...I don't only eat meat...I killed hundreds of rats when I was at university and we were reaserching 4 anti-oxidants 2 reduce the effects of radiotherapy in pacients with cancer. It didn't make me feel good, but at least I think is 4 a good cause...there's so much debate if it's ethical 2 use animals in medical researchs...I'm not sure about that....but I know that 2 skin an animal alive though all it's pain just 2 make someone's a**look good...that cannot be right. I'm no campaigning against Janet either..I've been a fan for almost 20 years now...but it makes me sad 2 see her participating in something like that

Blah, blah, blah dude.

To make some judgment about me because I made a joke is stupid.

And I stand by what I said. You did say meat was necessary along with some other bullshit talking points that suited your agenda.

And you have killed animals. WTF? lol

And I am sure Ms. Jackson gives less than two strokes and a pump about anything any of you have to say about it.

Funny this is news when she has been doing this ad for two years now.

Like I said faux outrage and even worse: faux morality.

And with that I'm off this thread for real. A total waste of all the dollars spent on college.

Apparently they threw shade on Kim Kardashian and Cameron Crowe too for using real animals in a movie about animals. Imagine that lol Like many have said these people are their worst enemy. Here's an article from the LA Times....

Musings on the culture of keeping up appearances

Fashion News: PETA hates on Janet Jackson, Kim Kardashian

PETA has named Janet Jackson Grinch of the Year for wearing fur, saying in a statement: "When Janet Jackson had her infamous wardrobe malfunction during the Super Bowl, at least the flesh that popped into view was her own -- unlike the stolen animal skins she drapes herself with, which are as dead as her taste in fashion." The organization also came down on Kim Kardashian for wearing fur and on filmmaker Cameron Crowe for using animal actors in "We Bought a Zoo." [PETA Files]

Kanye West reportedly will move to London to pursue his fashion career -- despite his first collection being cooly received in Paris this year. [Fashionista]

LMAO. I saw the phrase about humans needing meat, too -- "as I said, until fully proved otherwise animal meat is NECESSARY in our diet." That was the exact phrase I was responding to.

Also, to go2theMax, are you aware that I can read as well? I've read books on the subject, too. And I said Google Scholar, not regular Google. I suggested it because not everybody has access to a university database. But since I work in clinical trials at a major research institution, I do have access to many online catalogs. Since I trust you're some kind of a big-time researcher based on your self-touting, I also trust you have access to all these articles, which I filtered to come only from peer-reviewed journals:

Vegetarian diet improves insulin resistance and oxidative stress markers more than conventional diet in subjects with Type 2 diabetes

Vegetarian and vegan diets in type 2 diabetes management.

For Kidney Disease, A Vegetarian Diet

Reducing heart disease through the vegetarian diet using primary prevention

Vegetarian diets are associated with healthy mood states: a cross-sectional study in Seventh Day Adventist adults.

Does a vegetarian diet influence genomic stability?

Also, since you enjoy reading books on the topic, you should check out the China Study and Gary Fraser's Diet, Life Expectancy and Chronic Disease: Studies of Seventh-Day Adventists and Other Vegetarians. I'm not saying you need to become a vegetarian, but just that it is flat-out wrong to say that there's not enough research to know whether vegetarianism is safe. There is a shitload of research out there, and the overwhelming consensus is that it's just fine. The USDA has even said it's fine, and US regulatory bodies tend to be way behind the curve with a lot of their positions.

Anyhow, I'm done with this thread, too. It has nowhere to go but down.

short terms studies don't prove much. as i said what we need 2 know is how that diet would affect a population in long term period...as i said b4... it's not that simple...yes it's been proved that a vegetarian diet has a lot of good effects...but only time will tell if that will have any effects on future generations. Maybe it can change them 4 the best, maybe the contrary. We came a long way through human evolution (thousands and thousands of year), no studies can predict much longer in the future. Even medicines that are authorized by US FDA or such that seems 2 represent no harm for pacients, sometimes 10-20-30 years later have 2 be taken off the market becuz of the harmful effects on long term treatments (examples: talidomid, rofecoxib, women hormonal therapy - this last one started about 30 years ago, just recently t has been proved a great cause of cancer in women). Try again..don't give up so easy.
