Are the Go-Gos in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? If not, they damn well should be "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

The Go-Gos should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? Really? I don't dislike them but they are little more than a footnote. I think there are many, many more deserving artists that should be inducted well ahead of them.

I would NOT call the Go Gos a footnote "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

Not only would I call them a footnote I did call them a footnote.
Maybe I overstated my case but I am genuinely curious why you believe they are deserving of being so honoured? I like some of their songs but I've always viewed them as a bit of a novelty act.

Why do you see them as a novelty act? "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

I think they get more attention than they warrant because they were an all girl band. If they were five men I don't think they would be as well remembered today. Musically they had some good songs but nothing special.
I'm sure that they were influential on many women that went on to musical careers but the quality of their music is nothing special.

The Go-Go's are equally as worthy as The Runaways.

I guess I kind of agree but only in the sense that I don't think the Runaways are deserving either. Actually I would probably put the Go-Gos in ahead of the Runaways. The Runaways may have been pioneers but their music was pretty poor. Now, Joan Jett's solo career? That's a horse of a different colour and I think she should be in ahead of both The Runaways and the Go-Gos.
