Entertainment Weekly published the marriage license in their article on Aaliyah after she died. I saw it-it was issued in Cook County, IL. I remember being shocked cause mainstream publications don't usually get in black people's business like that
Vibe Magazine published R.Kelly's & Aaliyah's marriage licenses in the early 1990's. Old news. |

Sorry Timbo, but your most cutting edge, best, most inventive/creative shit was done ages ago. "Afrodisiac," "Miss E..." and "One in A Million" come to mind...not "Hard Candy" or "Futuresex"...as for admitting you were in love with a teenager...i guess money really buys no shame for some folks. and missy is still a national treasure...not WAS dope... I'll leave it alone babe...just be me |

I never thought in any way, shape or form that he was a musical genius.
I never knew he had balloned up to 400 lbs! Wow! Yeah, that is enough to send anyone spiraling into a deep depression. I always thought he was a very sexy man, though. "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley

Well Aaliyah appeared to be a very attractive, down to earth girl. Who wouldn't fall for those qualities. |

I think Every hetero sexual man had some type of attraction to Aaliyah, she was gorgeous inside out.
Aaliyah pretty much had an "older men" fetish though. It's pretty obvious. Jayz, Damon, Static, and Rkelly were all years older than her. She did always say that she had an "old soul" and she was mature for her age |

She dated Jay? It was always a rumour that they dated but it never was substantiated. There are pics of those two together that looks like they were more than just friends. I think there was a mutual attraction for one another but Damon Dash got the girl, besides I dont think Jay wasnt looking for something serious back in the day pre-Beyonce. |

real musical geniuses don't call themselves musical geniuses.
Miles Davis did . I think most of them have done that at least indirectly at some point of their career (for example, Prince comparing himself to Mozart - which might mean that he's more full of himself than someone calling himself a "genius" with a sarcastic intent).

What a great documentary! And it's hard to hold my attention these days, but I watched this thing from beginning to end. It was cool to hear from his parents and little brother, he looks so much like his Mom.
As I watch him and listen to him speak, I can't figure out why it is I'm so crazy about this guy, but I am, lol. I've always liked his production style, and noticed early on how he liked to take little sounds and blow them up big in the mix. That was one of the first things that caught my attention about his music. He definitely has a unique style. I was also very impressed by his wife, probably more than I've ever been impressed by a wife of someone I've been a fan of. She appears to be very mature and level-headed to me. She must also be a very confident woman, dealing with this man that was attracted to her in the first place because she reminded him of another woman. I also appreciate how she wasn't buying into his superstar bullshit when she first met him. I think he's probably lucky to have her.
Again, great documentary. I learned a lot, even saved it to my hard drive for my collection.

Yeah, I was pleasantly surprised myself as well.
He seems like good people to me, but when you read his quotes in some of the articles, you get the impression that this negro is on some delusional shit.
Overall, I enjoyed this. I was all over the Playa/Aaliyah/Ginuwine/Missy/Nicole Wray crew back 97/98, so the nostalgia radar was hitting the roof the whole time I was watching |

enjoyed the doc. thanks for posting. i like Tim, he'll go down as one of the greats. he reminds me of some talented guys that i know, who were kind of socially awkward and then made it "big." there's pride and ego mixed in with a sincere earthiness that makes me not take the "genius" comment to seriously. i'll keep rooting for him in spite of the status of the industry |

His music did change the 90's music scene. There was nothing else like that sound. Reminds me of when Prince changed the 80's sound. What was so odd about the documentary is they never mentioned Ginuwine. I think Ginuwine was a big part of his success & sound. Also even more so then Aaliyah. I find it very strange there falling out. It seems there relationship was more than just music. Tim has basically disowned him & gave his success to Justin instead. Ginuwine knew just as much if not more about him.
I guess Tim told them he won't discuss Ginuwine or want him on the show speaking of him...Hmmmmm

you're RIGHT, what a glaring omission about Ginuwine. Didn't know they fell out THAT hard. Dag brothas! His first album helped get Tim's sound out for sure. Pony was a crossover hit! |
