Maybe this proves the best unreleased track from the BAD sessions was Streetwalker? Kind of tempers my hopes for the likes of Buffalo Bill, Tomboy and whatever else is in the vaults.

Me three! Especially Liberian Girl which is a classic imo. MJ L.O.V.E: https://www.facebook.com/...689&type=2 / YOUTUBE: http://www.youtube.com/us...nderSilent

Well according to Bruce Swedien, there weren't many outtakes from the BAD session. He said there were quite a few songs recorded but they were scrapped during pre-production of the album so I can't say the songs were finished since they were left on the cutting room floor before the official recording but the only known (official) outtakes are
Streetwalker Fly Away Cheater Price of Fame
The rest of those songs most likely didn't fit the mood of BAD and were cancelled out before completion.

If I had to direct someone to Michael's "deep" albums would you all agree that Destiny and History are the top two?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I honestly believe when it comes to "outtakes", I think he means completely finished tracks
now if we're talking about demos like Cheater (which wasn't finished) which were done at Hayvenhurst with Bill Bottrell and John Barnes, then there's definitely more
Throwin' Your Life Away Cheater Apacalypse Now Michael McKeller Make Or Break Chicago 1945 Al Capone Groove Of Midnight Crack Kills Make A Wish Buffalo Bill
There were 2 teams working on Bad. The Westlake team and the B team which worked with MJ at his home studio
I just found out James Ingram wrote stuff for the album too. I wonder if that stuff was recorded too..... "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I don't think it proves it's the best. It proves that it fit the album better than the others and had a better flow "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Yeah that's what I think Bruce means when he says there were very little.
The ones that you mentioned are most likely the ones that Quincy and Bruce scrapped during pre-production of the BAD album. Can we really count Crack Kills since sources say MJ and RUN DMC never recorded it? Well, I'm sure MJ did a demo anyway. Wasn't there talk going around that Rod Temperton submitted demos for the BAD album? I take it Groove of Midnight was one of them but was that actually FOR MJ or did he just demo it for Siedah?
What about Strawberry Fields Forever? Or was that just for the Decade album?

Michael was recording in 1985 WITHOUT Quincy. Q didn't get on board until mid-86 I suppose. I Just Can't Stop Loving You and Bad were the first tracks worked on at Westlake with the main team. He worked on Another Part Of Me in early '85 when he did Captain EO with John Barnes then Michael and Q remixed it (John Barnes still should've gotten a production credit on the 87 mix IMO)
What was said in Man In The Music, Michael and HIS team would work on songs at Hayvenhurst, then send them over to the Westlake crew to basically finish up A lot of the songs were done, from what Bottrell said
I wonder about Strawberry Fields Forever and Come Together because they were both recorded in '85 but I don't think they were done specifically for Bad but they could've been "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

Yeah it's been unclear over the years just how many of these outtakes that Michael actually finished. I'm starting to doubt that most of the songs he started on he didn't finish them or never got to finish them. Maybe that's why Sony's doing what they're doing, I don't know...
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I was told the Estate and Sony just don't know what the fuck they're doing "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
It's possible! I know MJ didn't half-ass his demos but it makes you wonder how much is actually COMPLETE and not just mumbled words

What's the info on this MJ album that was due in 1999? Was this what Invincible was supposed to be?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Exactly! | |
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Yeah I'm curious about the info. It's possible Sony and the estate are grasping at straws lol

A lot of MJ's songs were registered to the US Copyright Office 1-2 years AFTER his albums. Anyone know if there was a reason for that?
"Learned My Lesson" and "Stand Tall" were copyrighted in 1985. Could they've been copyrighted for inclusion on BAD (1987)?
Gotta Find A Way Somehow, Holiday Inn, Ode to Sorrow, Nymphette Lover and Somewhere in Time are all copyrighted in 1984. Possibly for Victory album? However these songs were written as early as 1976
Fanfare was copyrighted in 1992 but for what? What was he working on in 1992?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
MJ worked on a handful of songs with Babyface that was supposedly supposed to be included on an album MJ was to release in 1999. I know those records HAVE to be complete
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Yeah I had heard about that too.

hey everyone i just wanted 2 share some cool images that were taking off of second life. today i was fortunate 2 witness somes friends online put on a DAZZLING interperation of the "this is it" concert as it would have taken place. 4 those that don't know what secondlife is, it's a virtual 3D world and there are avatars that can act and do cool things. there are "concerts" on SL and some are just stiff but this perfomance is the BEST CONCERT I HAVE EVER SEEN ON THERE. the dancers moved 2 the music just like how MJ would have done.

It was. The song was written in 1983 along with Liberian Girl and Dirty Diana. MJ re-recorded it for possible inclusion on the BAD album after failing to get placement on Victory.
