Madonna's Violent Call For Peace

The latest Madonna... correct me if DavidEye or Moonbeam has already posted this!!! lol

---

Madonna, who often raises eyebrows with her videos (her 1990 sexually charged "Justify My Love" was banned by MTV), is at it again.

A source says, "Madonna is set to cause serious controversy with her new video, 'American Life'", which was shot from February 3 to 7 in Los Angeles and which will air in March, a month before her new CD is released.

"The video is definitely antiwar" and "utterly shocking," says the source, who questions whether it could even be aired on TV. "It is so violent and bloody."

The insider leaks that Madonna, 44, is dressed in sexy commando fatigues and that the action takes place at a fashion show. But what comes down the runway are "the deadly effects of what will happen when America goes to war. On the runway were bloody babies, people who lost their limbs, people getting beaten up, bombs exploding, a soldier who gets his leg blown up." The source adds, "Madonna also flashes the middle finger and hoses down paparazzi."

Hosing down paparazzi? Now that's going too far!

Of course it's gonna be shown! In fact,on Sunday night during their Pre-Grammy special,MTV gave viewers a "sneak peak",which you can see by going here...

You can see the clip that MTV aired, and you can hear much of the song.

For a clearer,better-sounding clip of the new video,go to...

It's a shorter clip, but you can actually hear the song clearly.I love the dance scenes at the beginning smile

I've only heard the song in it's entirety one time,so it's hard for me to really give an opinion.I've been listening to bits and pieces of it,which are posted on the Madonna fansites (check out those links I provided above). But,I do find the song interesting, the concept is brilliant and the rap segment is alot of fun.

I can't wait for the album!

Someone who has heard the new album has this opinion of it...

"Well, the overall vibe of the album is very electronic and industrial,or "stiff" as the latest word du jour.I remember one track standing out which can only be described as "electro-Spanish calypso flamenco hard core dance".Not sure which one it was.But her voice on alot of these songs are really not as good as it could be.I don't know if the vocals have been auto-tuned or vocoderised to go with the style of the music, but not really let to go with the flow.I think this album is gonna be a grower."Hollywood" is the best track.Alot of electric guitars which blurs out the blips of the electro music"

it's good marketing and typical madonna...what's interesting is that years ago she used sex to be controversial, now that sex is no longer controversial, she uses violence. By the looks of things, she seems to be stealing some ideas and styles from her husband. Through all this, someone will confuse controversy with art...

Is it possible that Madonna may be influenced by her husband? (not 'stealing'?) Just a thought...
I notice people rarely say Prince stole his techniques from Larry Graham and others, I do typically hear he was 'influenced' by them...I guess it's all about perspective, eh?

All's I know is the heated opinions that arise when Madonna is brought up show one thing..she STILL matters, she still has an impact. I doubt people would get this heated up if Jody Watley (for example) released a 'violent' video..i just think no one would care...

Madonna is trying to make a statement with her music, and in this era of mindless pop songs, that's refreshing to see. It's funny the way you accuse her of "stealing" ideas from other people.Nobody "owns" the idea of violence! It was around long before Madonna married Guy Ritchie...lol...

I heard that,on this album,Madonna is really mixing many styles together. The first single can best be described as "electronica/folk/hip-hop/pop".

i absolutely agree with you...this is just another avenue madonna is going to milk. She started to with "what it feels like for a girl"...as far as mindless pop songs go, "don't tell me", "music", and many other madonna songs are pretty mindless. Not to mention "Erotica"???

Every artist or performer obviously steals from others who came before them...the talent lies in how you add to that already existing art. I have never held Prince up on som epedestal like some peeps around here (shoot, i did see graffiti bridge!). My point is that I feel like madonna hires people to add talent and skill to her work. She surrounds herself with talent so she comes up smelling like roses. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. But yes, she is still very relevent today and probably forever. But, then again, i did give her props for marketing lol

Every artist has songs that are "fun",and songs that are more "serious".But I think, for the most part,Madonna's songs these days are much more thought-provoking and introspective than her old stuff from the 80s.Surely you wouldn't call the 'Ray Of Light' album "mindless",would you?

i wouldn't...it is actually one of the few madonna CDs that i own (plus like a prayer, madonna, & like a virgin)...but, i also am a fan of william orbit. I have always considered Ray of Light to be his album...it may have been madonna's name on the record but it is orbit's work through and through. I don't care how many filters the girl uses, without orbit Ray of Light would not have been what it is. This is just one reason why i don't consider her a real artist...she relies on others too much. Honestly, I know she's huge and many many people love her, but where would she be without mad pr skills and a great producer?

It's true that Madonna works with producers and songwriters, but if you were to ask William Orbit and Mirwais, they would tell you that she is in total control when they're in the studio.I once read an interview with Orbit and he confirmed this.Madonna is NOT one of these no-talent bimbos who just sits back and takes orders from some hot-shot producer. She's very talented and knows exactly what she wants. When you hear a new Madonna song these days, you are hearing HER vision and HER ideas.

as a skilled pr woman, i am quite sure she pays those guys tops $$$ to not concern themselves with all the credit. I don't doubt that she tells them what she wants her record to sound like...she just can't make it sound that way. I can tell a painter what i want on canvas, but i can't paint it for myself the exact way i want it to appear. Does that make me an artist? Not really. It goves me a vision, but i can't execute it on my own. Madonna, like I said, is a great pr machine. She has dominated the industry solely by conception, not actual execution. She pays good money for the final product and I give her credit for getting where she has gone but not for being an artist.
