Betty Wright's..."Tonight is the Night"

Betty Wright..."Tonight is the Night"
Does anyone know the song "Tonight is the Night Pt1"? It seems like she doesn't get much talk, nor the song, but when I first heard it on 107.5, I went scrambling trying to find out who sang it, and went crazy on Napster, hehe...I thought it was something pretty special though and nothing’s going to change my mind, matter of fact, I think it's beautiful, especially the theme of the song….she has a 'Greatest hits' album, so some of you must of heard...I really feel the song though, does anyone else know or feel the same way???

Is this the one with the canned audience noise?
This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

You really should check out the 'Betty Wright Live' album, which was recorded in 1978.Even though it wasn't actually recorded live (false advertising?...lol),it's a powerful showcase for Betty and her band.I especially love her version of "Lovin Is Really My Game".That song smokes ferociously!

And yes,it includes "Tonight Is The Night",which absolutely KILLS the original studio version from 1974.

I don't know if it was the era or not, but I hate that audience overdub. I love the song, but who screams and applauds during an entire song?

That's true, I remember Candyman's 'Knockin' boots'...everytime I really liked a rap song, it mostly always had an old school jam on it...smile

Is it me or does she sing about the women who get beat up by their husbends. I listen 2 some of her songs and they sound like they have a non-direct reference 2 that issue.

Is that the same song as "No Pain, No Gain" or are they different?

"Tonight is the night
that you...make me your woman,
you said you'd be gentle with me and
I hoped you would...mmm
I'm nervous, and I'm tremblin'
waiting for you to walk in...
I try hard to relax, but
I just can't keep still"

When I was young,we had a neighbor who brought that over during a card party and it played half the night.
