I never understood the whole "chasing trends" thing It's a silly criticism to make.Pop artists make "pop music"....meaning,they make music that is popular with the public. To a large extent, they have to be in sync with all the popular trends and sounds,if they wanna sell records and make an impact.

^ No, true artists create trends...

By making such comments I am not 'controlling' anyone's sexuality, I'm just commenting that at her age I think she should be a little more dignified as it's not sexy to be so overt as she is....subtlety is more sexy... Watch the video for Hung Up...its off-putting to me!

Exactly what "trends" are being created these days? Name one current artist who is doing something that nobody else is doing. Everything has already been done before. The 80s was the last era in which we had truly unique, groundbreaking music.

^ I agree with you, that's why I'm kinda moaning about it....'we need a new breed'

Good luck in finding that There's no more ground to break...no more trends to start.Young people think Lady Gaga is so original and unique, but that's only because they're not familiar with all the people that she was "inspired" by.

^ I do think there will be a creative revival soon in response to the 'boringness' of the noughties music...
These things go in cycles...

I enjoy Gaga though I'm also aware she's doing what's been done before and giving it her own spin. Sometimes I go back to watch 90's dance music videos that I've completely forgotten about (not the songs, the videos) and catch images Gaga has borrowed though I know those come from the past too.

It is controlling peoples sexuality when you say 'You can't do this at this age' I'm not talking about children, but adults. It might have been off putting 2 you but there are another 100 people who loved it. So who is right and who is wrong? She looking fucking BELLA!! I LOVE the Hung Up video... U do know she was paying homage to the 1970's and John Travoltas film Saturday Night Fever at the dance studio
What the Freakin hell is wrong with how she looks?? I don't understand your problem with her sexuality + age
2 me this was her HOTTEST era since Erotica/Bedtime Stories

Confessions was a solid era, I couldn't stop playing that album for 2 years though at first listen, I didn't like it as much as American Life, which I fancied
I also agree that it's people's ageism and double standards that are making people act this way towards Madonna. At least she had the music to back up the sexuality and it was done tastefully. If Brad Pitt was dancing around showing his chest to this song, I bet you all would love it

Exactly. She looked so gorgeous in the Hung Up video.

If they were singing 'Keep the Faith' would you have joined them then?
Didn't Lil' Jon, essentially, create crunk? Doesn't that classify him as a 'true artist' as well?

WHAAAAAT? | |

Nope, I think I remember the conversation you're talking about though. Some people thought she'd just stick to touring now.
The Confessions era proved that Madonna is still innovative, and she rightly predicted the resurgence of dance in pop music, just like she did the rise of electronica 7 years before that. In the last decade Madonna was still a trend setter. Expect something next level this spring.

To me that's not sexy...it reeks of desperation...look at me..... and trying to be 'hip'...

I don't know what crunk is, but the fact is rhymes with 'junk' doesnt' inspire confidence...

^ You know when she looked so stupid and unhip? In the Me Against The Music video. I bought In The Zone for her sake, but she really embarassed herself in the video with her granny yoga and rolling around in the leaves and on the swing....were those outtakes the director left in?
And I'm a huge fan before you all jump on me and have all her albums, but that was just

You don't get to choose how someone expresses their sexuality, that's cruel and opressive.
Even M hated that video, I didn't think Brit looked all that great in it either. 2012: The Queen Returns

agree - best era since 1992-95
and how exactly is paying homage to Saturday Night Fever, Jane Fonda, Jamie Lee Curtis, and A Chorus Line in 2005 trying to be 'hip?' I'll leave it alone babe...just be me

it's funny how the world at large - there's those of us who try to cheer someone like madonna on, happy for her and her success and how she transcends everything...
...then there's the folks that are so determined to hate her enduring popularity, great bod, money, going against the double standards, and have to knock her for her 'age' -- i mean, what grade are we in? P and MJ are exactly the same age, too... I'll leave it alone babe...just be me
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I think we need to create a theme of "Madonna - sticky" (the five themes of the Madonna on the front page), and the theme of "MJ - sticky" to remove, so I finally was able to start topics that really interest me. This is discrimination.

such an age? lol you say that like she is 75
Again your definition. Sexy is sexy, it starts with an attitude, clothes on or off Madonna is sexy
Are U male or female?

I'm with you, doing that video was not a good idea, should have left Britney alone as far as going to her world
Loved when she slutted out Britney & Christina on the MTV awards... best performance of the night

Sorry, you seem seriously out of touch with pop culture history
I said she paid homage to a 1970's film and you say she's trying to be hip? Hip would mean 'current'

love how she releases a dvd of the concert with a cd of live songs
This whole look and feel was very sex and I love the 1970's Think it's time for a Confessions era thread

Madonna arguably was sexy...but back then she was more classy about it.... I am male but just because I don't find a 53 year old cavorting around in a leotard sexy doesn't mean i'm gay. And it's not about age either, Helen Mirren is old but she's damn sexy, because she is subtle and classy about it..
All i'm saying is that Madge would be hotter if she stopped trying so hard to be sexy and 'down with the kids'....
