A lot of people where on that Hero song, including Soundgardens drummer he didn't write most of it, and is one of many musicians on it. And Josey Scott sang on it...
Yet only Chad gets the credit? hack Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

Hang on a sec. Im occasionally hearing the word grunge in this thread. Sprinkled in with a little grunge hate. I dont think its fair to compare nickleback to anything since they are a paper meche group. Hell man Cobain shot himself because he was worried this would happen supposedly. Maybe this just really isnt the right audience but please please please dont line in this crap band & others like it with a movement that was going on in the 90`s. Grunge was a thing that the machine took notice of & then tried to duplicate. but for a short time we really did have something going on that the machine itself didnt create. Im having a hard time wording what I want to say. Sometimes something is populer because we get into it, but most of the time now, the corperet machine tells us what to like. Billboard charts dont rank things based on sales, they rank it based on airplay. That doesnt tell U if a song is populer.
For those of U that were too young for grunge, go to youtube & check out the big 4: Nirvana, Soundgarden. alice in chains & pearl jam. Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one bird.

^ They have the nerve to say Nicklecrack is post-grunge (in fact Creed was also called that) but they're far from post-grunge. Grunge at least had some very talented folks (Chris Cornell and Layne Staley were obviously the greatest singers of that era) but Chad is not as deep as Cobain or as vocally gifted as Cornell and Nicklecrack's music is not really grunge related at all. So I don't get that part either.

Honestly, i don't think they're any worse than any of those other rank new age American bands, they all annoy the heck out of me. We're here, might as well get into it.

I've always seen post grunge as a genre of music where the band want's to sound like the catchiest parts of Nirvana, but isn't nearly as brilliant and the lead singer often sounds constipated. 2012: The Queen Returns

Oh so that's how it's been described? Ugh, they're doing a terrible job at it. Not everybody can be Kurt Cobain or Eddie Vedder.

I see Eddies voice trying to be copied ALOT including Creed & Nickleback... then there was The Calling remember them? Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

Here is a writeup about The Calling from amazon.com: While this Los Angeles quintet doesn't blaze any new trails, they have revived the power ballad to give it their own emotionally charged spin. And if that weren't enough, they inject so many inspirational messages into the 11 songs on their debut that one could almost mistake them for a contemporary Christian band. Musically, this band stands proudly next to such earnest forebears as Creed, matchbox twenty, and Lifehouse. The latter makes sense given that Calling guitarist Sean Woolstenhulme's brother, Rick, is Lifehouse's drummer. With their brooding, contemplative lyrics about love, loss, rejection, and revenge, the Calling embark on an anxious journey into the state of modern relationships. And while they don't offer any conclusions, they certainly provide an interesting mirror on an apprehensive time. Along with their sturdy musicianship and rhythmically driven melodies, this band very likely will enjoy a longer shelf life than most of their contemporaries.
I thought that last bit was amusing.

Nickelback's Response to Critics: 'We Sell a Lot of Records'Posted on Nov 29th 2011 2:30PM by Kenneth Partridge Comments
Gustavo Caballero/Getty Images for Jeep When more than 40,000 people signed a petition aimed at preventing Nickelback from performing at halftime of the Detroit Lions' annual Thanksgiving game, the Canadian rockers didn't get testy or defensive. They made a funny video and played anyway, haters be damned. According to frontman Chad Kroeger, the group -- recently named the top musical turnoff by the dating site Tastebuds.fm -- is used to such ridicule. "We get that all the time," Kroeger said in an interview with Billboard. "We've never really been a critics' darling or anything like that." If critics don't like them, their accountants probably do. The Alberta foursome has sold 50 million albums worldwide and scored 17 mainstream and alternative rock hits. The band is certain to add to those numbers, as its latest album, 'Here and Now,' hit shelves last week. "The people speak," Kroeger added. "We sell a lot of records and fill a lot of arenas, and we don't hear many complaints." Funk Is It's Own Reward
