Albums you'd like to see reissued...OTHER THAN PRINCE'S CATALOG I was thinking about this over the weekend as I was organizing my music. Who's catalog, OTHER THAN PRINCE would you like to see reissued. It doesn't necessarilly have to be a remastered reissue.
For me, I would like to see several artists catalog properly reissued. My top picks:
The Jones Girls: I know their albums were issued on cd, but they were mostly 2-fer type discs. I would like to see proper reissues of each project, preferably with single and 12in versions for each album.
The O'Jays: The same goes for the O'Jays. Their first few Philly International albums were done right, but it seems like some of the other ones (like Identify Yourself and Traveling Through The Speed of Light) seems to be ignored. The issues I have were lacking on packaging and liner notes.
The Temptations: For me, I would like to see their 70s and 80s albums properly released on cd. I know a lot of them were issued on cd, but there are still some missing.

**Rick James---By now,we should have Deluxe Editions of classic albums like Throwin' Down and Cold Blooded. And when are we gonna get fresh remasters of his first two albums?!
**The Commodores--I wish we could get a complete box set that contains all of their albums newly remastered...similiar to the recently released Earth Wind and Fire set.
Instead of countless compilations containing the same hits,Motown should dig a little deeper and upgrade the catalogs of their biggest artists.

I agree about both of these.
Though all of The Commodores albums have been issued on cds, the packaging is horrible.

Hmm, I would like to see box sets that collect everything that James Brown recorded. Many of his albums were reissued in Japan but they are quite expensive.
The Turtles. Their albums were reissued in the early '90s but have been out of print for years.
There have been some good reissues of The Who's catalog but there are still quite a few stray songs out there, maybe a new 2 disc version of Odds and Sods could take care of that?
Huh, I should be able to think of more but I seem to have hit a wall.

Melissa Manchester's 1985 electro-pop album, Mathematics. It's the only album in her entire catalog not available on CD.

I'm still hoping that Alicia Myer's catalog receives a proper reissue.
Although it will probably never happen, I wish someone would reissue Vanity's "Wild Animal" and "Skin On Skin" as deluxe editions. "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley

Donna's Summer catalog needs an upgrade,as well.
Bad Girls is her only album that was reissued as a 2-CD Deluxe Edition. It's an amazing set, with great remastered sound quality.
But what about Live And More,Once Upon A Time,I Remember Yesterday and the others? The Quincy Jones-produced Donna Summer could use a fresh remaster as well.I know there are ALOT of unreleased outtakes from that album.

All of Johnnie Taylor's non-album singles and B-sides including material recorded with the Highway QC's and for SAR Records. Also JT's last Columbia album A New Day.
Supposedly The Gap Band released an album called Mama's Boys in the 1970's. I've seen no evidence of this album existing, but if it does, I'd like to see it re-released. I'd also like a compilation of their single only and soundtrack songs like the songs they recorded for A&M Records and their Christmas song.
A compilation/box set of all The Beatles Christmas fan club records.
Jermaine Jackson's Motown albums on vinyl.
The Swing Out Sister album that was only released in Japan.
B.B. King's early albums, particularly B.B. King Sing Spirituals.
All of Sam Cooke's albums
Whodini's debut album
Little Richard gospel albums.
Organisation albums (early Kraftwerk)

I want to say I've seen this album at this local music store here in DFW. They specialize in rare albums. I remember seeing 2 or 3 Gap Band albums there that I had not seen before. When I go back in there, I'll take my phone and snap a pic (if it's still there). I started to get it, but didn't have the $50 they wanted for the lp.
When did they record for A&M? They were signed to Capital after Total Experience folded in the late 80s. [Edited 10/10/11 14:02pm] **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

From what I understand, they recorded a few songs for A&M around 1975, but only one single was released. Shelter was started by Leon Russell, I think. Gap was Leon's backup band. It had nothing to do with Lonnie Simmons. They also have a 1977 self-titled album on a label called Tattoo.

First up HARRY CHAPIN for gods sakes, this guy still has albums Not on cd! let alone reiusses Next BILLY JOEL yes i know this was done about 20 years ago, but the bonus stuff was lame enhanced footage of videos on the cds! Really Enhanced footage? plus the remastering sucked ass and the cds still sounded like crap. Next all the INXS albums, they only did 3 remasters and they were good, but deserved more "looking'into bsides and remixes etc...YES they did have a re-issue box set overseas BUT none were remastered no extra songs etc...it was a record company rip off, the band wasnt even involved with it or endorsed it. a-ha, RHINO totally did an amazing job remastering their first 2 discs, found tons of mixes, demos and bsides, now its time do albums 3-9, though they have disbanded, universal and warner are planning issuing things from them.

Thx. I didn't know that. I also found a site that has info on all A&M releases (supposedly). It says there are 2 entries for The Gap Band, but doesn't list any song titles or album title. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-
