yeah Manilow wont, though should. INXS i dont think ever will at least not until they run out of people to nominate, they are considered the low rung of the 80's groups, to me i think REM and u2 are the only ones that they are letting in, i think Jovi is not going to get it, depeche mode will never see it, inxs a serious long shot, and duran duran probably never either. I wont even mention a-ha, though they just got in norways and the uk is going to nominate them rightly so.
As for Rick, hes not going to get a chance because he was on TV and he will never get that music cred because people feel the soap opera made him, which is untrue, and people think he is like some "monkees" artist where he really doesnt play or write anything, which also is insane since he was doing music long before the tv show, in fact cracked the top 20 in 1972 and had a gold record, so shows what they know [Edited 11/3/11 14:54pm] "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

^ Didn't he have like some scandal in '74 that kept him from becoming more popular in music or something that he ended up doing soaps anyway? I think his relationship with a still-teenage Linda Blair was a factor. [Edited 11/3/11 15:42pm]

Ah I found it, Rick's label at the time was accused of using payola to sell Rick's music in the '70s. This hampered his career for several years until '81 of course.
