Patrice Rushen's "Remind Me"

These days, I'm more into mellow music, "You Remind Me" by Patrice and "A Broken Heart Can Mend" by Alex are heavy rotation in my CD playa lately. I'm just oh so in love with sexy track over here,,the intro STOP you from skipping the song. I love her rhodes solo in the song while back-up vocalists sing "Aahhh Oooo" beautifuly haunting yet sexy and smooth. Alot of ppl sampled the song like Faith Evans, Mary J and R.Kelly.

Thats my ultimate Patrice Rushen track right there. I know that ya'll dig it too,,don't front, you know I'm right wink

That's the song! 'Nuff said

Harle!!! You know Patrice is my girl{one of my ALL TIME favorite female musicians}!!! Yes I love this number right here. Straight From The Heart is a winning record. Got to have it in your collection.

BTW...Patrice's 70's and early 80's albums Patrice, Pizzazz and Posh are due to be reissued on CD this coming Tuesday, Feb 25th{no word on whether they will be remastered or not but I hope so}.

I too love Patrice (I'll admit to having a teenage crush on her lol) but someone else needs to give Alex props for "A Broken Heart Can Mend" This was Jam & Lewis at their peak and Alex's vocals are so tight on this song it's sick. "Sunshine" "You Were Ment To Be My Lady" and "If You Were Here Tonight" are my other favs from that album. On second thought, isn't that about the whole album lol I may have to revise my top ten album list now that I think about it.

This album is great. "Remind Me" and "Forget Me Nots" go without saying but what about the instramentel "Number 1" Our Jr High Basketball team used to come out to that song lol. You know now days you couldn't see a team busting onto the floor with a jazz/funk cut like that. Boy have times changed

Ha ha don't get me started on them ugly ass ghetto mofos lol speaking of "Str8 From The Heart". She was hammered when she did that LP considering that she's originaly a Jazz/Funk musician and she stepped into the RnB/Pop world. Glad that she covered her ears and ignored them fools nod the sistah was BAAAD on both worlds(RnB/Pop & Jazz/Funk) I have her Jazz LP somewhere(the debut non-commercial one) its called "Before The Dawn" you should check this out Bro915,,,you'll dig it 2 no end since you're a serious jazz sucka(just like yo lil' sistah ova here wave)

It consists of intrumental jazz/funk pieces and I guess there's one song( a rock record) with vocals on. I love that LP.

Harle..check my Patrice Rushen thread I started last year {and revived just a few weeks ago}. On the thread, I stated that Before The Dawn is my very favorite record by her. Yea..the music really cooks on the fast number..And nice and beautifully played on the slow numbers. Awesome music on this piece!!! You can really tell she was listening to Herbie Hancock's funk/fusion records of the early 70's when she laid this one down. Even so, her playing is proficient and surely ON-THE-ONE on this record. I agree with you 100%

This is Patrice at her best, IMO, on this 1975 documentation.

Oh btw..I love that Trick Daddy track "Shut Up". I thought that was major tight..how they sampled that marching band. Nice beat. And of course you knew that black marching bands were gonna jump all over this one.

If it's the first time they're being released on cd I don't know if they'd be remastered, but if these albums have been out on cd before, they'll most likely be remastered when reissued.
