Robin Thicke Prepares New Album For 2011 Release

September 19, 2011

Robin Thicke is following his heart on his forthcoming fifth album. The follow-up to 2009’s Sex Therapy will be called Love After War, reports Rolling Stone. It has been marked for a November 15 release.

Thicke, who welcomed his son Julian with wife Paula Patton last year, has been in the lab putting the finishing touches on the project. “You get to that point where you hate it and then you love it,” he recently told Rap-Up TV. “It’s just like any important relationship in your life.”

Recently released cuts “I’m An Animal” and “Mission” are expected to be featured on the set, along with “Pretty Little Heart,” and collaborations with Usher, Maxwell, Faith Evans and Pharrell.

No,no,no! No guest artists! no no no! That's the main reason why I wasn't thrilled with his last album.A collaboration with Usher?! No thanks.

I donated the last album, Sex Therapy, to charity after one terror-filled listen. I kid you not. I'm going to preview the album in its entirety before (or if) I make a purchase.

He never really interested me. The only thing I really liked from him was The Evolution of Robin Thicke. Might check this one out though. I'm An Animal sounds alright. A little boring though.

Am I the only one who braced themself hoping not to see Lil Wayne or Jay Z in the list of folks Robin is going to collaborate with? LOL. Robin is a sexy dude, can't take that away from him. I just hope his music continues to grow and change, don't get stuck in a rut sweety! smile

Trolls be gone!

This guy doesn't get the joy of doing an album on his own, does he? Why does it seem like almost every R&B cat who's in the so-called mainstream is doing collabos? Fuck that. lol

He's not even making much of it when you read on the sales of his last couple albums following The Evolution. lol Guess he (and other artists) didn't get the memo that no one was checking for who was on the record rather than what the leading artist had in store. lol

You're right on. He didn't get the memo. I also think it might be a bit of a label thing too, pushing non-mainstream artists into making collabos with mainstream artists, for example, John Legend or Erykah Badu (Lil Wayne? REALLY?). lol

True. You saw how Badu was shocked at the comments she got for working with Wayne on Twitter. lol

Badu has evolved into the female equivalent of Kanye West. She seemingly can't muster the creative energy to put out a sample-free CD.

Hence why I consider sampling both a blessing and a curse.

I think she actually did that BEFORE she worked with Wayne, but I don't think it matters in the long run, it's still a little hypocritical. lol

Robin's last album was fun, but I need to buy music that will still sound good to me 10 years from now, money is tight. I just threw some CD's in the trash today. sad

I always preview and album before I buy it. Alicia keys taught me that.

I still haven't listened to my copy of Sex Therapy, but I've really enjoyed his other releases. Cautiously optimistic...
