zappa spanking stevie

hello everyone, new poster biggrin.

Are there any Zappa fans here? What is your favourite album, and can people recommend relatively unknown stuff? I am really into his live albums (You can't do that on stage anymore, especially vol.5) and albums like hot rats. The hard guitar albums I guess. I would like to get to know other stuff, but he recorded too much.

Anyhow, this has always been one of my favourite clips: Zappa spanking Steve Vai. Though Steve Vai seems much more technically proficient on guitar than Zappa (at least to my untrained ear), I would pick Zappa as the winner of this 'battle'. He is an awesome guitar player

As for a favorite album, there are quite a few but this one stands out...

Ah thanks, I see I should have used google. biggrin

I will check these threads out. I did not yet hear the music you posted, so thanks for that. Great tracks.

That is chad wackerman on drums on black napkins right? Great drummer. I discovered Zappa when I was 16 or so, the day he died. My dad started to frantically tape the concerts on tv, one including chad zuckerman on drums. I listened to that concert many times, but never bought more from zappa. I only started doing this recently.

Cool. This dude?

I kid...

He was the keyboard player in the concert through which I came to know Zappa's work. He is a great singer. He and Zappa perform a great version of 'whipping post', and he also plays the sax. Great natural talent. Here it is (all of you probably know this already, but whatever...)
