System was the 2008 version of that song you posted along it (Can I Speak to You).

I would say you are but I would be lying. It's good but not great lol I actually think the best track they put was the last track, which was recorded back in 1971. lol

I think that it was a quality release with only one horrible track out of the 11 cuts. It's nothing that was earthshattering as their previous landmarks such as Nightbirds, Pressure Cookin' or Chameleon, but it stood above many releases that came out in the last 5 years in the R&B/soul realm. I hadn't heard Patti as inspired as she was on this album in...WHEW...years! So it is recommendable, but you're not missing too too much.

Roll Out was HORRIBLE! Patti and the girls on autotune?! HELL NAW. Why did they agree to that? I hope to God Patti's next album - if she ever gets it done - don't include autotune (which has overstayed its welcome). Vocally Patti was a beast on that album. She definitely sounded more inspired with Labelle than she does on her own. My favorites were Candlelight, System and Tears for the World (where Patti actually went on high falsetto, shocked me lol).

My point exactly. "Roll Out" should've been in the vaults as it didn't fit the album at all. Verve Records should've really got this album out there more, but it appealed well to the LaBelle fans and R&B crowd who wanted quality. Even though there was some disappointment from some fans, I felt there was some funk on that album like "System," "Candlelight," "Tears for the World" and "Truth Will Set You Free." Lenny Kravitz put his foot in the songs he produced and it matched their sound perfectly. The GEM of the album was "Superlover." WHEW! Smokin' track.

Superlover was real nice. So was Truth Will Set You Free (Nona knocked it off with Patti assisting her). Candlelight I always considered to be the magnum opus of this particular album...

Oh yes..."Candlelight" was the shit. Lenny really put alot of his magic in this album, along with Kenny Gamble & Leon Huff. Should've made a bigger impact.

I think when they chose Roll Out, it stopped any impact the album could've made in the long run. JMHO. Fuck you Wyclef by the way. lol

Yep. "Roll Out" was on there because I guess they wanted it to appeal to the young people, but both the old and young heads weren't feeling it. Auto-tune and Patti...disbelief
