Janet Jackson Wants to Conquer Broadway

Pop icon Janet Jackson has done it all. She has conquered music, film and television. But there’s one thing that Ms. Jackson has yet to take ‘Control’ over — the Broadway stage. In an interview with FansShare, the 44-year-old entertainer says she yearns to be the queen of Broadway.

“I want to experience that someday,” she says of her aspirations to perform on the Great White Way. Janet also added that she would like to produce movies, as well. “I want to make more films — I’ve just made a producer’s agreement with Lionsgate because music will always be a part of my life,” she says.

We would love to see Janet tackle the Broadway stage — it would definitely be a good look for her. We can see the Grammy-winning songbird showing off her slinky legs as the showgirl Roxie Hart in ‘Chicago’ or maybe playing the Wicked Witch of the West in the hit musical ‘Wicked.’ Plus, her appearance on Broadway could possibly help boost ticket sales in the theater community. So it’s a win-win all the way around.

In the meantime, Janet is currently heating up the world stage with her new tour ‘Number Ones: Up Close and Personal’ where she performs all of her No. 1 hits. The trek, which kicked off in February, will hit Australia and New Zealand before wrapping up in the United States with a Miami concert in December.

New album indeed! I'm having withdrawls...

Since December is the end of the tour, she'll probably be heading back into the studio. I predict she'll start work soon on producing that film for Lionsgate, followed by a late summer early fall 2012 album.

I just the recent Blackglama shoot. She looks PERFECT!! She looks 20! I hope I age as well as her!

Janet Jackson is returning to the United States immediately.

After private discussions with her family regarding her late brother Michael Jackson, it became necessary for Miss Jackson to leave Australia for the next several days.

" I want to thank my fans in Australia for their love, support and understanding. When I planned these shows, the schedule in California was completely different. After talking with my family last night, I decided we must be together right now. I'm looking forward to being with you for the Gold Coast, Sydney, and the Melbourne concerts. To ensure that Janet’s Melbourne fans do not miss out on her “Number Ones” tour, the concerts scheduled for this week on Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday are now planned to take place in a special configuration at Rod Laver Arena for one night only on November 3rd. Tickets for all of the Melbourne shows will be honoured at the Nov. 3 concert.

“It is important that Janet is with her family at this critical point in the hearing. While Janet and our company apologize for any inconvenience for the reschedule of the Melbourne shows, we thank Janet for the great and successful concerts in Perth and Adelaide and eagerly await her return. I’m sure the rescheduled concert on November 3 will be a very, very special night. Our thoughts and prayers are with Janet and the entire Jackson family," promoter Paul Dainty said.

Janet’s concerts on the Gold Coast and in Sydney are unaffected.

All ticket holders from all three Melbourne performances will be contacted with their re-allocated seating shortly.

Anyway, I remember Janet talking about recording an album mainly of Brazillian music couple of years ago, but she dropped the idea.

It would be so cool if she revives that idea and releases the project.

I think she probably has been writing all this time. Believe me, it won't be a "Discipline" type of situation the next time she goes into the studio

I love the stuff she did with BAGS & Arnthor too. "All Nite" and "SloLove" are two of her best tracks of the 2000s.

Seriously, I hope Janet drops some new music. It doesn't even have to be a full album. Give us a 6-8 record EP or something. She doesn't have to tour because she's about to end this one but I would love to see a tour in maybe 2013-14 or something.
