: Simon Cowell Says that Beyonce is a Boring Singer By WTH Staff Known for his acerbic wit and ability to make would-be super-stars break into tears with a mere lift of an eyebrow on FOX’s American Idol, current X-Factorjudge, Simon Cowell, has turned his spotlight on Beyonce‘, calling her the most “boring singer”:

“If you only ever heard Lady GaGa, she’s the most boring singer in the world. You’ve got to see her – you need TV. Same with Beyoncé. Or Katy Perry. We’re all about image. You have to have that X Factor,” he told the UK’s Mirror.

Cowell’s critiques have proven to be invalid in the past, famously having said that Beyonce’s Dreamgirls co-star, Jennifer Hudson, wasn’t that good of a singer, then having to eat his words:

“I think on balance, I was nice and harsh [to Hudson]. I don’t think she was good enough to win the year that she [was on], and I don’t think one person watching the show could have predicted that she was going to win an Oscar three years later,” Cowell told Entertainment Tonight.

Beyonce is probably not too concerned with the criticism, though. The Destiny Child front-woman, turned solo artist, turned Mrs. S. Carter, is expecting her first child with mega-star husband, Jay-Z.

Beyonce is not a boring singer. But her choice of producers & songwriters are below average most of the time.

Beyonce is a boring singer, her timbre is one of the most generic and bland in the industry besides Lady Gaga. Bey has great technique and can mimic anybody vocally, thats what makes her vocally competent. Gaga is just trash. lol lol lol

Well I think he is right. She would be boring if she wasn't attractive or if she didn't perform in her undies all the time.

Same goes for Gaga.

Musicslave	Let's not forget he has a new show to promote. With that being said, Beyonce's has been quite predictable since Daddy Knowles figured out what works well for her and she hasn't strayed much since.

mjscarousal	One thing about Simon that I dig, is that he is not afraid to bash or to say what goes against the grain of popularity and I respect that. With that being said. Beyonce can sing but their is nothing special about her singing. She is boring as a singer. No personality, no depth, doesnt tell a story or convey emotion in her singing.

I don't think he's right at all. For most people that become big stars, it's the combination of both image and talent. It always has been and always will be. Yes, they probably wouldn't be successful if they didn't have a certain visual image, but with just the image and no talent, they wouldn't be successful either.

I don't know what he means by boring. Both Beyonce and Gaga are very technically proficient singers.

I think that's sad. I think a singer should be liked for their singing. Their songs should be bought because of how well their singing is liked. Unfortunately, that is not always the case. If we were talking about models, that would be another story. Sad, indeed, if no one would want to listen to her (or anybody) if they were deemed unattractive to the listener's eye.

kellistarr120	Hmmm. . . made me think. I will use this scale from now on to measure future singers. I usually hear them before I see them. Beyonce, a boring singer? I haven't seen a single performance or video pertaining to her 4 album. Only heard a few tunes. I haven't purchased the CD. I believe this answers the question. At least for this album.

but on topic i'd agree... Gaga and Beyonce are strong on the visual show. people don't really like artists that just stand there and perform all that much, although there are exceptions.

He's right, but more interestingly he is implying the same thing about the people on his own show--that they need the "X Factor" or nobody'd be interested in them.

He is saying she has that x factor. IMO she would almost certainly win that competition.
