it's probably easier and cheaper to work with establish talent than to cultivate a brand new artist.

To be honest that album had 8 good songs.
Now as far as Ciara's goes her time has come and gone. I mean did anyone really think she was gonna have a 20+ years career? I didn't |

Ciara is like a less talented MYA, who would OWN Ciara on the dance floor "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries." |

But Mya was/is lazy. She could have been on top of the world after Aaliyah had died and used the hype she built up from "lady marmalade" like Pink and Xtina did, but like I said, she waited too late and her album that came after flopped. Ciara was hungrier when she first came out which was why she dominated. Not to mention Mya's material was ALWAYS weak. |

Funny...before Rihanna hit big, the 'war' was between Ciara and Beyonce. But I found out from my young thug cousin....that amongst those in the hood, Ciara was holding it down. Beyonce, as far as he and his circle were concerned, was mashmellow fluff.....purely packaged Ciara was raw I gained more respect for Ciara with that revelation[u] [Edited 10/10/11 20:28pm]
Well, Beyonce was pop and for the masses, Ciara was always more hip hop sounding and street. I used to hate on her thinking she's a copycat of everyone, but I don't care anymore, cause the girl can move and is so pretty! I wonder what your cousin thinks of Single Ladies |

Interesting that all the Jive R&B artists are now Epic artists lol but that's probably not surprising and since it seems like she's the only female act, maybe there's some hope. But with L.A.'s record, I'm still not sure of Ciara's future at all. |

I used to really like her but I think she's old news. She was hot with the other black teen artists that were out with her but I feel that's all she was a teen craze..she was a fad basically. |

When I think about it, you're right. She definitely was a fad. I'm surprised she still thinks she has a chance nowadays. Once you're over 21 and you were a teen idol, it's over unless you're really that creative to get over that hump lol |

She needs to work on reconnecting with her base and finidng out what they really want.
No more The Nightmare aka The Dream or Chris'tricky' stewart!
Actually LA Reid had a hand in Ciara's original signing of her first recording contract. So they have history together. I never took her seriously until I saw footage of her live earlier this year This girl does have a good stage presence. She knows how to get a crowd on there feet & can dance her azz off. Even though I never thought she can sing . Live she really surprised me. Let's not forget it took my girl Janet two albums before she came into her own. Even with the Jackson name behind her. will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that wasn't of this earth, would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. |

LA Reid is so lame. He brings on Rihanna to judge other singers on X Factor, signs Ciara, and compares Kanye to Prince. I really can't take him seriously. |

Poor man's Clive Davis hasn't saved anyone's career like ever.
In fact, there's a precedent for talent DISOBEYING LA Reid's wishes and becoming more popular for it (Gaga, Pink, etc).
LA Reid reminds me of that writer Joss Whedon. Ostensibly talented guys that make TERRIBLE CHOICES and yet still get rewarded with more opportunities to ruin careers.
Umm... Joss is a genius and I can't think of a single bad choice he has ever made.
But very true on the first part, I like how Marina calls him out on her song Hollywood:
soon as I touch down in old LA, he said, Oh my god, you look just like Shakira No no, you’re Catherine Zeta Actually, my name’s Marina
