Axl Rose slammed by the press for weight gain and bad live performance

One of the rare times I've seen a male celeb get roasted for his appearance and bad singing. It's usually only a big deal for the female celebs disbelief Anyway, Axl Rose is grabbing headlines after a performance in Rio earlier this week.

but does anyone know what happened to Axl? Yeah he's in his 40s but he looks so different! Take a look!!

Sweet pie of mine! Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose is unrecognisable after piling on the pounds

He was once a pin-up for millions of rock and roll fans throughout the world.

But it seems Axl Rose's poster boy days are over, judging by photographs of the 49-year-old singer performing with the band in Brazil last night.

The Guns N' Roses frontman was unrecognisable as he took to the stage at the Rock In Rio music festiva, with his attempts to cover up his larger frame in a coat failing miserably.

[img:$uid]http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2011/10/04/article-0-0E34C3F600000578-920_634x632.jpg[/img:$uid]

What happened? A significantly larger Axl Rose was unrecongisable as he performed with Guns N' Roses in Rio, Brazil, last night

Rose appeared to have gained a significant amount of weight in recent months, with his slimline frame at the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards a distant memory.

The rocker teamed his yellow coat with a black hat and sunglasses, with the whole ensemble contributing to his bizarre appearance.

It's not the first time Rose's weight has sparked concern, as he previously shocked fans with his overweight look in January 2010.

His size also led to him being labeled a 'fat Botox-faced wig wearer' by his rival rocker Scott Weiland.

But his weight gain appears to have continued over the past year and a half, with Rose looking entirely different as he performed in Brazil.

Gearing up for the performance, Rose told eager fans he was concerned that the pouring rain would make the stage treacherous for the concert.

He said: Good evening, good morning! Please bear with us and give us a little second here to figure out what to do about not falling on our asses.

I'm going to try to focus on singing rather than running around like an idiot. I'm better at being an idiot. We want everybody to be careful.

The group then delighted fans with tracks including Sweet Child of Mine, Live and Let Die and Welcome to the Jungle.

The band's performance was their first since last December, and came ahead of the Guns N' Roses US tour which begins later this month.

The tour will start in Orlando on October 28th and finishes on December 1st in Auburn Hills.

and another article:

Oh jeez. Oh boy. We can’t ignore this any longer, can we? William Axl Rose, who was once one of rock’s greatest and most forbidding frontmen, has entered his late-Elvis stage. At the Rock In Rio festival on Monday, Axl showed up wearing a weird fluorescent raincoat thing, a gigantic cowboy hat, and about five bazillion extra pounds. We didn’t know how good we had it with the dreads-and-hockey-jersey stage.

And that weird look and weight gain wouldn’t even matter too much if he still had that terrifying helium wail, but no. He now sings in a pitched-up chipmunk squeal that’s somehow come a whole lot closer to Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s godawful impersonation of the man. Observe the damning evidence below.

If people keep saying these things about him he is only going to go into a binge. lol

He looks like what most men in their early 50's start to look like.

I was worried about seeing him moving around like that on stage. He is definitely going to hurt himself or have a heart attack.

At least we know he isn't doing too much heroine, coke or meth. That's a good thing right?

While he did look like an angry big bird meets james hetfield, some of the performances where good. We had a thread and judged each song, November Rain was eeek! he forgot the lyrics, played the wrong chords and yeah it was a mess confused

But some of the set was great, others it was not. Axl has been in a downfall for years, he was once ahead of one of the coolest, most talented bands you can think of. But he is slowly loosing his grip, he knows people want Slash, Duff & Matt back[Well ok, Some want Stephen & Izzy but that is beatdeadhorse]

Oh no don't say that lol, that will be the end of Axl!

It's sad.. but people forget Axl actually has an interesting voice. And even those live performances where he sounds rough, i like that roughness to his voice. I still do!, but it is starting to age & i can tell he just cares about himself and well money probably. There was a time when he was wanting to make symphonies and shit lol

Use Your Illusions cool

G&R is the pitch perfect example, of how an entity of a band, is not the same once you lose key members.

Axel thought HE was GNR because he wrote the songs.

John Paul Jones, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant knew they weren't gonna be the same Band without Bonham.

Would've respected Axel more if he just started another band, then try to maintain the GNR ghost through this bastardized shell of a band.

I beg to differ [at least for men in his field] - see Prince, MJ, Mick Jagger, Aerosmith's Steve Tyler [or is it Styler?], etc... all slim&sexy in their fifties... biggrin

In any case, Mr. Axl has got our attention:) Maybe that was the point about the appearance radical change, who knows...

Axl was warned in the 1980s by voice coaches that singing that way would degrade his voice eventually. Every lucky star ages. Some wear big yellow raincoats. Others wear jet-black wigs and hire questionable guitarists.

Yeah! People just tend to get fat as they age, that's life. Some more than others. Some work hard to stay slim. Some work hard to loose weight to no avail. And some can eat whatever they want and still stay slim. So whatever.

Dang they talking about Axl's weight gain like he's 400 pounds or something. He looks like a normal older man. At least he isn't singing from a wheel chair because he's too damn fat to stand up and move around. And also I'd rather see him in that yellow raincoat rather than him running around with his shirt off with the beer belly hanging and jiggling every where. The only complaint about his weight gain that I have is that when he sings (according to the vid posted) he seems to be out of breath extremely too much. For that reason, he could stand to lose some weight or get in shape some how...but he doesn't look awful.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Axl Rose heckled for extreme weight gain

By: Kim Palacios
http://www.hollywoodnews....ight-gain/
Former Guns ‘n Roses front man Axl Rose was unrecognizable on Monday night when he appeared in Brazil to play a show with his old band. Photos of the performance showed the star in a yellow zoot suit, a studded black hat and dark glasses, looking vastly different from photos as recent as summer 2010. The star had previously been called a ‘fat Botox-faced wig wearer’ by former Stone Temple Pilot and Velvet Revolver front-man Scott Weiland, who played alongside former Guns ‘n Roses guitarist, Slash, in the latter of the two bands.

Rose made headlines last year when he sued Guitar Hero creator Activision for $20 million, claiming its use of the Guns ‘n Roses hit “Welcome to the Jungle” violated a an agreement to include any imagery of ex-guitarist Slash within the game Guitar Hero III. “This lawsuit is about protecting Guns N’ Roses and ‘Welcome to the Jungle,’ and is about holding Activision accountable for its misuse of these incredibly valuable assets,” said Rose’s lawyer, Skip Miller, at the time, though Rose’s intentions and conduct in the matter have since come under scrutiny.

i hope Axl will be okay. he had a ruff up-bringing from being abandoned at 2yrs by his (reportedly) sexually abusive biological father and a religiously fanatic step father. i hope he can and will lose the excess weight that seems to cripple his singing abilities.

Weight gain is very common when you are off of hard drugs that zap one's appetite (for destruction) so I would tend to forgive him for not looking half his age when half his age ago was not a healthy era.

That being said, he might need a bit more practice on these songs. I've heard Prince mess up his own lyrics and usually cover it up with a "cmon yall" audience singalong and make that shit look good. Sounds like this was Axl's first show in a long ass time. Let him warm up!

OMG this made me laugh so hard but you are so right. People are acting like he's obese, which it looks like he's not. Sometimes people forget that celebs, musicians, actors, etc are people too and yes, some times they age and even put on weight. We can't always be skinny forever. Anyway, I didn't thinkhe sounded too bad either. I've heard worse. That was still better than what some others could do on their best day (j. lo anyone lol )....I don't know, i'm ahuge Axl/ G N' R fan so I guess I love him not matter what but that's just me.

Don't bet against that! Axl & Slash really hate each other professional AND personally more than before, hence the real reason why there will never be a true GNR reunion.

Marilyn Manson is getting up there in pounds too. He was thin right up until 2006 which means age 38 and Axl has only added weight after age 40. So it is a middle age spread. Maybe it is the result of taking it easy on yourself while not touring. Many of the skinny for life guys tour and tour and tour. They know they are not going to be away from the camera for long.

All the fatties seem to back away from the public eye a bit so months and years go by where no one sees them and maybe they can lie to themselves about what is happening to their looks. Food, especially sugar, is often the go-to addiction for anyone trying to get off of mind altering substances.

Axl must be very very low on cash in order to be seen looking like that.

There came a time when the risk of remaining tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom. Anais Nin.

Wow! That's kinda laughable! Those shows were agreed upon over half a year already. He was touring the latter half of last year! It's not like he noticed last week, that he has no cash left and called up his manager to tell him he needs a gig.

There are so many reasons. All of the drama during the makings of Use Your Illusions I & II was and still is a starting point to fully understand . Slash never believed in using keyboard synthesizers, but Axl do. There was even that time when Axl wants to take GNR to the same kind of vibe that Trent Reznor was taking Nine Inch Nails, but none of the GNR band members (especially Slash) liked this idea at all.

There were some recent pictures of him where he already looked quite bloated. Apparently he's gotten even bigger during the last couple of months, but his current appearance shouldn't be a huge surprise. He should have just worn a loose shirt and forget all about the hat and that jacket. Everybody can see that he's gained a lot of weight.
