There were some recent pictures of him where he already looked quite bloated. Apparently he's gotten even bigger during the last couple of months, but his current appearance shouldn't be a huge surprise. He should have just worn a loose shirt and forget all about the hat and that jacket. Everybody can see that he's gained a lot of weight.

yeah i think the big bright yellow coat just draws more attention tothe weight gain but whatever. i still don't think he's that fat. i see way fatter people than himevery day on the street.

Looking from the profile, he's not overweight, just bloated. neutral Especially in the facial area.

He doesn't look fat at all. Timmy said he looked a little bloated in his face, and he does, but 50 year old's faces are wider than 30 year olds, too. Slash is not as thin as he used to be either. PLus if he gained a few, who really cares? Does that really mean he's spiraling out of control?

you are totally right, on the street he would not get a second glance for being "fat" but rather just for dressing funy

Weight gain is very common when you are off of hard drugs that zap one's appetite (for destruction) so I would tend to forgive him for not looking half his age when half his age ago was not a healthy era. That being said, he might need a bit more practice on these songs. I've heard Prince mess up his own lyrics and usually cover it up with a "cmon yall" audience singalong and make that shit look good. Sounds like this was Axl's first show in a long ass time. Let him warm up!

spit faint I don't know why but this shit here made me yelp out loud laughing because it's so damn true! nod

I can believe it's his first shows since 2010. I heard when he returned to the road after years of seclusion (while recording Chinese Democracy) that he had similar reactions. Seems when he gets good, he's good, but when he's sloppy, he's sloppy, and it usually shows if someone doesn't rehearse daily for live shows but rather focus on record making. That's the only real good excuse for what's going on with Axl 2011.

But WHY though? I dont understand it. Id think by this time they would put aside their differences...

There are so many reasons. All of the drama during the makings of Use Your Illusions I & II was and still is a starting point to fully understand . Slash never believed in using keyboard synthesizers, but Axl do. There was even that time when Axl wants to take GNR to the same kind of vibe that Trent Reznor was taking Nine Inch Nails, but none of the GNR band members (especially Slash) liked this idea at all.

Didn't Axl mention something of like a racial slur against Slash since Slash's mother is African American?

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

He never secluded himself from touring. He was doing a lot of live shows while recording Democracy and played 50% of the songs on these mostly European tours way before the record was released.

Nah, in his recollection, he had a problem with two black guys, I guess they got into a fight, and he was apparently addressing it at them. "One in a Million" was the first sign that Axl had mental problems. There was stories that most GNR members didn't know Slash was black until much later but I don't know, they have to have met his mother at some point, right?! lol

I find that somewhat hard to believe, Axl is many thing's oh lord he sure is ha smile

But a full on racists no....

His current drummer is African American, he is a huge fan of Public Enemy and wore there gear a lot circa 91, 92. He also is a big Ray Charles and Muddy Waters...

Because of One In A Million and some thing's he supposedly said he also labelled ''homophobic'' Yet he is a HUGE Elton fan and they did November Rain with them in 92 of course. And he has also praised the Pet Shop Boys a lot to.... not ot mention he played at the Freddy Mercury tribute concert.

Axl is a huge asshole, but i have never believed he was a full on racists & homophobic.

I just think dude is mental. Like Gun said, he does have a black drummer and he has worked with gay artists (Elton John) so who knows with him. But like I said, I'm sure he knew Slash was black. I'm sure lmao

all those things were due to reaction of his racist and hoophobic words of the time...right when he was in full swing with the N-word issue of One In A Million (with Will Smith on record in an MTV interview "I wanna me Axl Rose so I can kick his ass") thye made the You Could Be Mine video with him wearing the NWA cap and on the shoulders of his black bodyguard...then the EJ ish.....aka dude was Mel Gibsoning it before Mel went haywire himself and apologizing all over the place.

I was looking Rock in Rio from Brazilian TV. The raincoat was on at the beginning, because it was really raining a lot. But yes, he is getting fat a bit, but look at your friends close to 50! In that age it is not a miracle.

Actually his voice warmed up and 50% of the show was performed in my opinion quite well, he can hit his high notes if he is warmed up. I was not a bad concert at all.

That will say anything when angry. And yes, those short shorts probably turned on some of the guys ahha.

Axl must be very very low on cash in order to be seen looking like that.

Wow! That's kinda laughable! Those shows were agreed upon over half a year already. He was touring the latter half of last year! It's not like he noticed last week, that he has no cash left and called up his manager to tell him he needs a gig.

I just don't believe he was out there for the love of performing. I also think he is very vain. Vain people do not like to be seen looking like shit if they can avoid it. Maybe he knows that he goes through money like water. I really don't know but I believe it was totally money driven. shrug

He's probably not any more chubby than most guys his age; he is approaching 50. so it's a little unfair to expect him to look the way he did when he was much younger and at his heyday in the late 80's. But I'm sure people wouldn't be makinng any comments about his appearance if his voice and singing were in top form. My guess is he sounded really flat with some of his songs and that probably drew attention to his appearance.

Personally I don't care what he looks like, but I do care about his health. If he isn't physically in shape it affects his stage performance, and of course can lead to health problems and put him at higher risk for a heart attack.
