L.A. Reid Announces Ciara To Sign With Epic

[img:$uid]http://i.imgur.com/mG8KZ.jpg?8127[/img:$uid]

October 10, 2011

Since her departure from Jive Records Ciara has kept quiet about her future plans for a new label home and a follow up to her Basic Instinct album.

With the entire Jive Records label now folded, and its roster of artists being transferred to RCA or Epic, new label head L.A. Reid has officially announced his plans for the Pop R&B entertainer.

[img:$uid]http://i.imgur.com/86Uy3.png[/img:$uid]

The rumors have proved true and Ciara will be inked to the new Epic Records very soon. L.A. took to Twitter to make the announcement! Can L.A. return Ciara to mainstream success?

How in the world did she pull this off? Her last 2 albums barely went plastic. SMH!

Entertainer

L A has a soft spot for her plus it's probably easier and cheaper to work with establish talent than to cultivate a brand new artist.

She needs to work on reconnecting with her base and finidng out what they really want.

No more The Nightmare aka The Dream or Chris'tricky' stewart!

First thing CIARA needs is overseas marketing, first and foremost, the scene in the USA is dead, beyond dead, unless you are Katy Perry, Adele or Rihanna or Gaga you arent getting played. SO ciara needs to step out of the box of trying to be like rihanna or whomever and put together some more LIVE sounding music, i have never been into her music, but she seems like she could pull off a live sound, and could hold a stage, she is a presence on stage, she can move, and for the moving she is doing she needs better songs than "Goodies" that nonsense is about a decade done.

As for signing her, BIG DEAL, id rather see a campaign put together and some money plunked into something worthy, if she can do that, than millions thrown at shitty music just because its like everyone else's music. So main Advice to Ciara, get LIVE, and GET universal (not the label) concentrate on the WORLD not just BET.

Isn't Rihanna with Epic? And haven't those Ciara and Ri Ri thrown shade at each other? I predict EPIC ugliness.

Funny...before Rihanna hit big, the 'war' was between Ciara and Beyonce.

But I found out from my young thug cousin....that amongst those in the hood, Ciara was holding it down.

Beyonce, as far as he and his circle were concerned, was mashmellow fluff.....purely packaged
Ciara was raw

I gained more respect for Ciara with that revelation[u]

Keep in mind that LA Reid's track record with white female artists is not great. Remember many years ago when he wanted Pink to be more like Britney?!?

In order to have a more universal appeal wouldn't she have to do more pop orientated dance music rather than r&b orientated dance music?

She will be 26 this year. I don't know anything about her relationship with Missy.

I think she has plenty of gas left in her tbh. It's not over for her just yet. I agree with the person that mentioned the overseas market. It would do her a lot of good to connect with the overseas audience. Fantasy Ride was really good. The problem is when you let The Dream run your entire album. Ask Mariah that.

She needs a knockout performance somewhere where everybody and their momma can see her performing skills.

Poor man's Clive Davis hasn't saved anyone's career like ever.

In fact, there's a precedent for talent DISOBEYING LA Reid's wishes and becoming more popular for it (Gaga, Pink, etc).

LA Reid reminds me of that writer Joss Whedon. Ostensibly talented guys that make TERRIBLE CHOICES and yet still get rewarded with more opportunities to ruin careers.
