Though I always liked it, I appreciate it so much more with time, alongside other neo-soul songs of the late 90's. Another one I really appreciate more with time is That's the Way Love Goes

FAVE SONG OF ALL TIME. BY. ANYONE. EVER.

Q TIP, JANET, JONI MITCHELL, and J-DILLA?

Yes it does. My favorite track from the Velvet Rope album. It has a smooth laidback quality to it. I was definitely feelin this song back in the day she performed this song on Oprah and she brought the house down.clapping

Not surprising, as the first single sent to radio off "velvet rope", that US pop radio mainly ignored it. Probably abit too left field for US pop stations. Generally did well in UK and europe though, where radio is in general, a little less restrictive when it comes to genre and playlists on commercial radio

I love this song, but my dog chewed up my Velvet Rope CD (not sure how she got it), so I can't listen to the song anymore sad I'd put it 3rd on my favs from VR. I prefer 'Together Again' and 'Everytime'.

cool

My sister bought this single when I was young, I remember some proceeds going to AIDs charities. I played it way more than she did.

The proceeds of Together Again went to AIDS, I didn't know that about Got Till It's Gone, though it's making sense

The video won so many awards, Mark Romanek is such a talented music video director

And I remember those awesome performances from Oprah and Top Of The Pops that I caught just in time on BET and taped.

My favourite JJ track (at least from the 1990s). A good example of tasteful sampling. There needs to be a little stystic schism involved with it.

Yes. nod That video was hot. Mark did an excellent job. Loved the subtle or not so subtle commentary in it. And Janet looked cool and natural. That funky hair style was/is cool as hell!

Was playing this cut recently. She sound so good & sexy on this song. Its actually not much of her vocals on it. But it works. It could easily be a hit today. Q-Tip was a nice touch & vibed perfectly with her. I hope she gets back together with JJ&TL. But I will understand if she doesn't. She wants to prove herself with out them. Video also was a good look for her. Very under rated on her different looks.

I remember radio laughing at her hairstyle in the video during that time, so stupid. They worshipped the Bad Boy crew and teen pop. I thought the song had a De La Soul vibe to it when it came out. I heard it for the very first time on the day Princess Diana passed away, on urban radio and I couldn't tell Joni and Janet apart lol
