Seems peeps on this board generally find her to be overrated.

Yeah I don't think it's really what caused her to be seen that way. Like some people find Adele overrated, some don't roll with Joss like that either. I don't think she's under or overrated since to me she didn't really make much of an impact to me.

I feel the same too. A lot of people consider Adele overated, whether they think she is talented or not because of her popularity at the moment. Joss never had that kind of popularity.

I never saw that interview. I've been trying to figure out why most people don't like her. Especially on this board.

The talent, beauty, youth and international success of Joss Stone annoys some people.

The faux-American accent sent the Brits into a typical little spin over her "fakeness". She acted daft, but she was 19 and a bit misguided/drunk/excitable, bless her... teenagers do tend to carried away by things(like multi-million record deals and achieving the holy grail of being Big in America). Amy Winehouse never reconciled her origins with her music either, and the few times I saw her she appeared ill at ease with her equally-fake-but-for-some-reason-ok persona.

Joss Stone's a technically better singer than Adele, you can argue over gravitas/soulfulness/realness whateverthefuck,

Never heard this faux-American accent lol....but eh interesting assesment you have there overall.

She's average looking

Her youth is questionable as it seems to be me she been 24 for the last 4 years

And as far as international success, haven't her last two albums done poorly in comparison to the first?

All that you mentioned is subjective. lol I love what she does with her hair though.

The clip was from '07, and her career, or at least to the best of my knowledge the public's perception of her has skydived since then.

Her youth(you confusing her with Duffy) and International success are not subjective in any sense.

Her voice is fantastic-

Joss needs to work with someone like Betty Wright who knows how to use her voice to its best advantage...

Same here. I like the voice and the odd single, but not enough to want to explore her further. The music that is wink

Her US success peaked quickly though so they probably wouldn't have found out anyways even if some think she was fake (though I'm not totally big on her anyways so I wouldn't know if she was lol). I'm sure they're asking "where is she?" lol

nod she barely even got 15 minutes of fame.

Adele is a much better singer then Joss Stone check out her performance at MTV Music Video Awards she surpassed those so called pop singers that night and she got a standing ovation.

Joss has a nice voice but she is overrated as a singer her soulfness is what helps her but she has no dimensions in her voice. You hear one Joss Stone song and she is like that in every other song.

What also helps Joss is that she knows what good music is and unlike other R&B artists who have excellent voices but weak music ...Jennifer Hudson

Joss knows what her voice is made of and she surrounds herself with good producers who can bring out her voice but Joss's problem is that she is too arrogant she dissed Betty Wright who has a voice that can rivial Mariah Carey and Joss basically left her and when she did the Mind Body and Soul album you can tell that Betty was trying hard to bring the best vocals in Joss.

Joss is good but she can be better but there really is no growth in her voice she should try to sing in harmony instead of trying to sing at the song. Joss confuses screaming as soul and that is not what soul music is.

Adele is so much more mature vocally then Joss and you can tell she does not sound forced.

Love that girl!!

Adele all the way.

After 2004 that was when Joss fell off the radar but Adele is far from overrated just because people appreciate her voice and music does not make her overrated.

Do people know what overrated is because it is used too much to justify an answer.

Overrated means someone who is less then what they are pushed to be.

Adele is far from that.

Right. I agree. People nowadays are really in love with the word "overrated".

She deserves every bit of success she has. It's really refreshing to see.

I guess most people are a little salty when so much praise is given to "white girls singing black music" so to speak. I've heard similar criticism for Amy Winehouse and so on. They don't feel she is so amazing and feel that others that came before her have done better...maybe? I dont know I'm speculating shrug

But seriously it's like give credit where it's due.

Adele. Her voice seems natural/organic. She also comes off as humble and appreciative of the soul singers that have come before her. The power in her voice seems effortless and the quality of her music is superior to Stone's. Adele is far more transcendant as an artists and I like the fact that she's not made up to look like a stereotypical sex symbol. (Still loves you Xtina).

Now Joss ohgoon that woman is manufactured and artificial IMO. She attempts to sound like someone but then doesn't want to give props where props are due. I remember an interview with her where she was asked about her voice, sound and style and what black artists influenced her and she evaded the question by saying music has no color. WTF kind of BS answer is that? Just drop some names of artists you grew up listening to and were influenced by and call it a day. I think that was the first thing that turned me off about her.

Honey she is probably telling you the truth!!! Now Janis Joplin, she would have rolled out some names because Janis was truly touched by the work of other artists. Janis made Janis, she took her own cracker self mixed it up with the blues artists she loved and came up with something genuine and beautiful if crazy at the same time. I don't think Joss knows what black singers influenced her style because she wasn't the person listening to them. It was whomever taught her and listening to the white women that copied them and her management team of course.

When I listen to her all I can think of is she would do well as the lead singer of a cover band that covered Janis and Dusty Springfield.

There came a time when the risk of remaining tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom. Anais Nin.

Love them both so its a tie, one excels where the other doesn't.

Live performance- Adele

Studio vocals- Joss

They are both vocally superior than Amy Winehouse but she is the better artist and dare I say musician.

I think Corinne Bailey Rae is the best of the Brit girls due to the total package she brings.

Stevie Wonder = EARTH
Prince = WIND
Chaka Khan = FIRE
Sade = WATER
