The Time will release their brand new album Condensate on October 18,

under a new name : The Original 7ven (not sure that's a great name) and

a little preview of their brand new single "Trendin" is already availble. Not a

great start but hopefully the rest of the album has better to offer.

This sucks.

It's alright, but the chorus part sounds like a teen pop song. I don't know about the name though. I think Flyte Tyme would have been better.

Sounds good to me. No autotune? Check. No Jay Z rap intro? Check. No generic Eurobeat? Check. Fat synth and live bass? Check. This my friends, is a Time song. Looking forward to the rest of the album. Not sure about the name change, but I understand why there had to be a change.

P.S. The name "Flyte Tyme" as a current musical incarnation belongs to Universal records.

Maybe they're going to be called The Band like Prince was called The Artist. But I guess the 1960's group might have a problem with that. But there's an old Doo Wop group called The Tymes, and a rock group from the 1970's called Time (no "The").

As for the band name.....are they allowed to even use the word "time" at all? They're called The Original Time Band on their website, so I thought their new name would be "The Time Band" or something like that.

Is it really true that Prince owns the band name ("The Time") and won't let them use it or is it something else? If the record co owns it, I thought they might be able to use it since their new release is going to distributed by Warner Bros and their older stuff was released by them, too.

It's alright. Not something I would listen to and enjoy, but oh well.

I wonder why the group are allowed to use the names "Morris Day & The Time" and "Original Time Band" for touring and performing purposes, but has to use a different name for their album. On the album cover it does say "The Band Formerly Known As The Time" in smaller print.

Yes! "The Time" is finally releasing new music. One problem; they are no longer called "The Time" but "The Original 7ven" instead. Hmm.

We have no idea why they are no longer going by "The Time" unless the rumors of Prince owning the name "The Time" and not letting them use it for new music they are recording.

I don't understand Prince's reasoning for it since they have been using it for the past 30 years but I guess we will get into that another time.

When I spoke to all 7 original members of "The Time"....I mean "The Original 7ven" they told me that they and Prince were cool. I mostly spoke to Morris Day and Jerome Benton, but nothing came up about the name change.

For now, "The Time"..we mean "The Original 7ven" are releasing new music for the first time in 2 decades! The CD "Condensation" comes out in October and the new song "#Trendin" comes out September 20th!

Don't like the new name or the snippet But I will still be positive about the rest. I like the cover but not the name of the album either..

I wonder if it has anything to do with perhaps getting money for use of the Time name.

As for the song, it's not great but better than a lot of current

stuff on radio today.

Awful, generic and cheap cover, in design and concept. ( a beer bottle?)

Why bother?

I, for one, am very interested in hearing this new album and I'm not going to shoot it down before I've had a chance to hear it in its entirety.

I'll buy the album because I MUST support...but I am not impressed.
