Love the wah/filter vocal on this classic. "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

When I first heard this song, I immediately thought: "Yep. THIS is DEFINITELY the song that influenced Prince." He even mentioned it in the liner notes of "GCS2000."

You ain't messing with this track. Just listen to it....CRAZY. Don't Call Me Nigga, Whitey also makes good use of the vocal filter. The greatest band of them all in my opinion....anyone heard those small glimmers of hope on Sly's new record? "Get Away" shows promise for a whole new Sly album. What can you say about this jam? Freaky, fresh, hip and edgy! To think that Sly and the Family recorded this 42 years ago is just bold in its self. The vocal effects, bluesy groove, hardhitting guitar work...just amazing. People think that this is the only filler cut on Stand!, but I beg to differ. It influenced many folks, including P himself. It's perfection just as the masterpiece record it's on. Check me out and add me on:

Get Away is a nice jam and if you read the liner notes on the CD, you will find that there are plenty of those to be released as well!
