After years of critics’ constant comparisons between her and Lady Gaga, Madonna has finally broken her silence regarding the issue. However, the icon, who is currently preparing a new album, did little to assuage the situation. Instead, she blasted Gaga by saying that the ‘Bad Romance’ singer has an “obsession” with her.

The ‘Like A Prayer’ hitmaker told Le Soir: “As for Lady GaGa, I have no comment to make about her obsessions having to do with me because I don’t know whether her behavior is rooted in something deep and meaningful, or superficial.”

Ouch! Madonna’s representative later seemed to play down the legend slamming Lady G, telling E! News: “I do know that [Madonna] has said many supportive things about GaGa over the years.”

Madonna has been known for being involved in several feuds over the last 30 years – for instance, with Janet Jackson and Mariah Carey – but this has to be the most shocking showdown that she has started in quite some time! As she is known as an outspoken advocate of Gaga’s work, her comments have little explanation beyond the fact that she probably was not amused by the striking similarities between Gaga’s ‘Born This Way’ and her own ‘Express Yourself’.

Nonetheless, the viability of such a feud may not be in Madonna’s best interest. Regardless of her legendary status, she has been away from the music scene for over 3 years and Gaga has been dominating her market. Hence, like Christina Aguilera, Madonna may find herself facing a backlash from the younger generation as well as several people who were once her own fans.

This quote is being taken completely out of context. During the promotion of her movie W.E. a journalist asked her if she thought Gaga was obsessed with her like the main character in the movie is obsessed with Wallis Simpson. It was the journalist who said the word obsessed. She merely said no comment. But of course the media report doesn't mention what the question was just the answer.

Madonna has denied claims that she said that Lady GaGa is "obsessed" with her.

The singer is reported to have made the comments during an interview at the Venice Film Festival with Belgian magazine Le Soir while promoting her new film W.E

The publication insists that when they asked Madonna about her fans, which include GaGa, the 53-year-old responded: "As for Lady GaGa, I have no comment on her obsessions related to me, because I do not know if it is based on something profound or superficial."

However, Madonna's spokesperson Liz Rosenburg told the Daily Mail: "This is not true. Madonna did not say anything negative about Lady GaGa during her press conference".

Gaga is compared to someone she never tries to be. She tries to be the next Elton John or Prince or David Bowie (All 4 of these artists have 1 thing in common ). Madonna is just a minor influence

As soon as her 12-19 years old fans grow up, she's done She will be forced to return to her semi-electronic place. Her mainstream days will not last. She's tryin' too hard. The "serious" music media cannot stand her, and the Facebook/Twitter community is vain, frivolous and will replace her eventually. And well-deserved. I mean, she can craft good dance-pop, but if she actually believes people take her seriously, man oh man...

At one time, I thought Madonna was just another flash in the pan chick, but look at her status now. I could only say that time will tell with GaGa.
