Albums You Like/Love That Weren't Hits

I thought of this thread a few weeks ago when I stumbled upon the "War Of The Gods" album by Billy Paul. This album wasn't a big hit, but it is really good. The version I found at a used music store was the quadraphonic version and it is killer. Anyone else have any?

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Ok...so I go to a site that has the pic, do I click copy, open link, or what? Usually (like for Facebook) I just copy and paste...thanks for any advice!

Copy and paste the URL, then put the [img] tags and voila. smile

I have to think hard and long about this. I think I liked Discipline from Janet, it had more suitable tracks than 20 YO.

"Forever More" is one of my ALL-TIME favorite songs.

Definitely should have done better than it did.

I prefer this to any BEP album. It has way more awesome songs, but poor single choices and lack of promotion meant it wasn't a massive hit like it should have been.

After "Pretty Hate Machine", this is my next favorite NIN album. I like it WAY more than albums which sold a lot more, like "Downward Spiral" for instance. I think even "With Teeth" which is my least favorite NIN album, sold more than this. I think it was because Interscope knew that Trent was leaving after this album and didn't push it as much as they could have. Regardless, it's a masterpiece.

or was it considered a hit? I actually thought only my friend and I were crazy about this album!

Yeah, I love Graffiti Bridge movie, so what? ''Oooooooooooh Montreal, say it!''

There were so many potential hits off of that..."100%", "Cannot Contain This", and yes "Forever More" should have been huge! Aside from that, Roisin's solo album "Overpowered" had the potential to have even more hits but fell flat on American ears. Sad.

Also my girl Teena Marie's album "Sapphire" could've been big if they had released the right singles...but they didn't! "The Way U Love Me" could've been a huge R & B hit as well as "Make It Hot" with Rick James.

If it breaks when it bends, U better not put it in!

yeah, SAD, isn't it? Sometimes I wonder why does she bother to keep releasing GREAT music if only the underground electronic scene of Europe cares...

Yes these albums and all the b-sides/live/alt versions that were released on singles.

Crimiinally underated artist. Is he back into making music again?
