Kiss To Release Monster Album

August 23, 2011

KISS have confirmed the rumors that their new album will be called Monster.

The monstrous confirmation came from the band’s own demon, Gene Simmons, who told Classic Rock magazine that the album sounds heavier than 2009’s Sonic Boom. “It feels like a connection between Destroyer and Revenge,” Simmons said.

Simmons told DJ JC Green of Alfa Rock 105.7 FM that the album featured straight rock songs, no ballads, no keyboards, “just rock … just the band doing what it did on the first three records; write the songs ourselves. Once you know who you are and how you breathe – because every song is like an animal – you try to bring life to the song so it becomes real. Once you know who you are, it’s easy to do – just do what the animal does without thinking about what’s popular, what a producer would do.”

The album is currently being recorded in Los Angeles for a 2012 release, to be followed by a 2012-13 world tour. Like Sonic Boom,Monster is produced by Paul Stanley.

Eh... i am kind of done with Kiss. As a kid i loverd them... but every album you know what to expect and the last album was fun and all. But Gene and his big mouth said it was there best album in 23 years... Gene stfu you also said something similiar about Psycho Circus & he said Planet Of The Apes was the movie of the decade lol And Avatar was the movie of a generation confused

He hypes stuff up way to much.... and he will do so with this album i imagine.

Never got the hype around Kiss. I like their make-up more than their music and Gene needs to get over himself.

The hell with'em. Gene just milks this band to the edge of reason. They're just an industry now, not a band.

They stopped being a band after Frehley and Criss' initial 1979 departures.

Still love them, though it's getting less and less. There last good albums were Revenge and Carnival of Souls. They put out some other good stuff, without Frehley and Criss. Eric Carr was a much better drummer than Peter Criss could ever dream to be! Creatures of the Night and Lick it Up are some of their best work, ever! I totally agree....ever since "The Reunion" of the original 4, they are more industry than art. This being said, I'll buy it. Gene needs my money.

Whenever you say that you can't, that's when you need to be trying.

In retrospect...

Gene is a ok bass player, he's not amazing or great. A lot of his licks and rhythmes are easy as pie, he's not a great singer nor songwriter lol.

Paul is a good singer, not a great songwriter and decent guitar player, Ace is the best songwriter in the group, and he rarely got anything in writing wise till his solo band. And he was ok on guitar... i think his solot stuff show's his skills more though. Peter Criss had the best voice in the group.

There 80's years cheesy as hell i'm not denying that and some of the worst writign in metal of the 80's decade, but man did they have great guitarists! Vinnie Vincent was fantatsic and his skills are above what Ace's where int he group, John St. John was a great player as well, Eric Car was a better drummer then peter. Bruce Kulick was a great player to! lots of chops, but the band was not focused and wrote a lot of shitty songs int his era. Most of thema re pure guility pleasure for me.

Revenge is there strongest record writing wise to me... and after that they feel off again.

Kiss is always very hit or miss, as a kid i loved them as an adult. There a very flawed band and to me will never be with the greats for me like Zeppelin, The Stones, The Who, Pink Floyd, The BAND, The Beatles, The Animals, Aerosmith, Van Halen etc.

I'm much more excited about Ace Frehley's next album.

I don't know if he's working on one, but whenever he gets around to it, I'll check it out!

Kiss can officially stop making new music, all it does is make the bathrooms more crowded at their concerts.
