I'm listening to "Secret Garden" penned by Q Jones and just love El Debarge's part of the song. I really love El to death and hope he gets himself together soon. Anyone else here love El? In case he reads the org, let's show our love for him! But, I really doubt he reads the org lol. But, I did read one comment on another blog that someone referred to El as a "knock-off Prince" LOL! I really don't think he was like that back then but what do you think?

I like El Debarge, I really do.

But he was supposed to open for Kem Friday night in Newark, NJ.

He wasn't there; Joe and Will Downing performed. They both stated during their sets that they were called at the last minute.

He was replaced by Musiq Soulchild back in February when he was supposed to open for Kem @ the MSG Theater in NYC...

There have been recent threads about El Debarge's issues with drugs.... I pray that things get better for him.

Hey Choc---so you're saying this happened again this past Friday? I remember hearing about the issue back in February...Wow, I really thought he was getting himself back together because he had been making appearances earlier this summer...

Wow, I'm really sad to hear about this. Seems like he's really back-sliding a lot. Did you see the video of him being pulled off the stage at some event in June? It was tough to watch.

Yes. I had told my friends about it, so I was not surprised to see the signs posted all over NJPAC.

Love his work with DeBarge, but I've always thought these 2 '90s singles were both underrated:

"You Know What I Like" (featuring Chanté Moore) [1992]

"Where Is My Love" (featuring Babyface) [1994]

1992's In the Storm is a pretty solid effort throughout.

I love El/Debarge The Group. El is a great falsetto singer and songwriter. I think The Debarge family is very talented. I've loved them since I saw them perform on Motown 25 with High Inergy. The whole family is talented.

It's really sad what is going on with El. He seemed to be doing better over the past few years, I was so sad to hear that he fallen off the wagon again. I also hope he gets better. I really do.

Oh I see. Nothing against Joe or Will Downing but I woulda been pissed off not seeing El. He's the reason a lot of folks (particularly us females) who go to these events where he'll be performing...I woulda demanded my money back.

I've always loved his voice.

My friend is a huge Kem fan, so she didn't care. Some people were upset.

I only went because she asked me to go... Joe and Will are cool, but I was kind of disappointed that I didn't get to see him. Kem put on a good show, tho.

Now here is a thread I can get into! I saw El last year in NYC before he released his latest CD. He was FANTASTIC live. I posted some pictures on another thread. I'm sad to hear he's back in rehab. Speedy recovery!

Really a gifted arranger, singer, and songwriter. Needless to say with his talents El' should've had a more prolific music career but.... I hope the brotha can find sobriety and peace of mind.

I Love El and the rest of the Debarge Family...They're all Talented and Beautiful...I was really shocked when the BET awards gave El so much MAD-propers during its LIVE ceremony a couple of years back. He was all over the place doing interviews. His "Live" singing was on-point. He looked healthy..Everything that an Artist of his Caliber would DREAM of for a "Come Back" was in the Palm of his hands...

I still Love the single he Cut with Faith Evans "Lay with you"...That is still my Jam and local radio play it around the clock...I Pray that the Brotha finds Peace of mind and the strength to Face his Demons and over-come his battle with Addiction...

El is a Legend and I want him to Live a long time to enjoy Life, His Family and Feel the Love that Music Lovers have for him...

One of the most beautiful voices ever. I hope brotha El finds healing before it's too late.

That was when he was working with DJ Quik. You could clearly see him in El's right I think.

How did he get hooked up with that crowd?

Here's a video with him trying to lip-sync- he doesn't know how to lip-sync.

Cause he is a talented man with a voice that never needs to be hidden by

a recorded audio.

You can see he had his long hair cut, but he does look better with it

cut short.

with all the videos you see him with DJ Quick you can see that DJ Quick

was a big fan of El. He always looked star-struck. or he can't believe how
