To be honest, if you go on living your life and ignore mainstream music and the radio, it's actually really easy.

I guess it is because I kind of run a bar in my basement and the radio is constantly to please our guests...I always assume everyone must know the tunes

I have NOT listened 2 the radio since 1983.

Very cool for Katy Perry and her team; well-deserved. This album is loaded with killer pop tunes; fun, upbeat, melodic, beautifully sung and produced. "Firework" in particular is a song that will help define the era in pop music.

But didnt you hear that Beyonce is the 2nd coming of MJ? (according to Jay-Z). And that Justin Bieber could be the next MJ? Or Prince? (according to Will.i.am). And lets not forget the time Rolling Stone magazine put Justin Timberlake on the cover with the title "The New King of Pop" some years ago. lol

On the real, Katy Perry is the type of current pop artist that you can actually get behind...She can actually carry a tune on the guitar...she has a cool voice...and she writes/co-writes a lot of her songs...

I'm glad she's successful...She seems to be a good, humble, intelligent kid...

Frankly, this King Of Pop title is getting passed around with ease in this day and age since MJ passed. Let me tell ya, as far as I'm concerned, that title belongs to Michael. Always will...

When you say "King of Pop" and ask people who's that, they'll say Michael Jackson. Not Justin Beiber, not Beyoncé....Michael Jackson. Just like when you ask who's the King of Rock n' Roll. People will automatically say Elvis.

Michael Jackson's name when it's mentioned creates excitement and wonder. And hell...let's see Katy Perry or any other star in the world accomplish this...

Michael wasn't just a star. He helped this world...he pushed it forward. His songs touched almost 3 generations of people in his lifetime, and will continue to do so long after his and our (eventual) passing. His songs gave us reason to hope and strive for a better world. He united so many people from all over the world, to love each other as if they were one family.

While i think titles are meaningless and fleeting...if anyone deserves one, it's him.

P.S Janet needs more credit too. If there's a Queen of Pop, it's her. Sorry Madonna...

They will give that title to ANYBODY nowadays. If they give the grammys out like its candy and other high awards what else you think the media will do????

The media can do whatever the fuck it wants... but THE PEOPLE know the truth.

KING OF POP = Michael Jackson in the dictionary of world greatest innovators and entertainers.

and Janet does earn more credit than what she gets.. ive been playing VR alot lately.lol

lol, Then it's not so interesting in the end. Though I am unsure how you have managed to "never hear a song by this woman" given her hits have been ubiquitous, I'll go along with it. That being said, if you -plan- on continuing to avoid the person's music, -how- did you come to that conclusion without hearing -any- of her music? lol

I've got nothing but congratulations for this accomplishment. Whether I'm a big fan or not (I'm not) is not the issue, whether last minute gimmicks were used is not the issue....her label has handled this era flawlessly. FLAWLESSLY.

I really don't see her pulling off a 6th #1 but I have a feeling Janet's record will be either tied or broke once Katy's era is all over and done with too. (7 top five singles off of one album)

Interesting.........I've NEVER heard a song by this woman.

I have heard two, and I Kissed a Girl was the mature one.

The other one was some hodgepodge of hip hop cliches about California set to music that might be suitable for selling Japanese candy or an episode of Hannah Montana
