Control, Jimmy & Terry's production was just funky as hell cool

Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

Almost a tie; but Control beats Bad by a brittle hair. It must be said, though, that the best of Bad is better than the best of Control; however, Control is more consistantly good overall.

Love both albums but my choose goes to Contol. Songs like I Just Can't Stop Loving You or Bad sounds a little bit cheesy for me boxed

1) Control vs Bad

2) Nasty vs The Way You Make Me Feel

3) What Have You Done for Me Lately vs Speed Demon

4) You Can Be Mine vs Liberian Girl

5) The Pleasure Principle vs Just Good Friends

6) When I Think of You vs Another Part of Me

7) He Doesn't Know I'm Alive vs Man In The Mirror

8) Lets Wait A While vs I Just Can't Stop Lovin' You

9) Funny How Time Flies vs Dirty Diana (That was hard! I love both of these songs so much)

Control-4

Bad-5

"Bad" is the winner for me, but I love "Control". It's probably a stronger and more consistent album, but the only songs I listen to from "Control" are "The Pleasure Principle" and "Funny How Time Flies". A lot of the songs on "Bad" sound very dated. Out of all MJ's albums, "Bad has aged the worst, but I still listen to it more than "Control" and there's nothing on "Control" that moves me the way "Man In The Mirror" or "Dirty Diana" do, so I gotta go with "Bad" cool .

"And When The Groove Is Dead And Gone, You Know That Love Survives, So We Can Rock Forever" RIP MJ heart

"Baby, that was much too fast"...Goodnight dear sweet Prince. I'll love you always heart

Well, "Liberian Girl" is on "Bad", but "Funny How Times Flies" is on "Control", so...

Hmm, I think I gotta go with Control. I find most of Michael's ballads to be too cheesy. Now, there's some cheese on Control also but also more funk than on Bad.

What was the quote that Jam and/or Lewis said about Control? Something about wanting the album to be in every black household in America? I really wish that Michael had made a whole album with that thought in mind.

Janet seems a lot more popular on the org than MJ. Her albums always seem to get more votes than her brothers on these MJ vs. JJ threads.

Fuck knows why, all of Michael's studio albums are superior to anything Janet's put out.

The song BAD is way hotter than the song CONTROL but the album CONTROL is way hotter than the album BAD.

Eh, I'm not a massive fan of either of them but if we are talking Bad vs. Control and Dangerous vs. Rhythm Nation 1814 then, at least for me, Janet wins. Now, if you want to compare History with janet or The Velvet Rope then I would probably have to go with Michael. Off the Wall and Thriller are probably both better than any album that Janet has released but starting with Bad Michael got a bit sloppy with his albums.

Although I can tell MJ and Janet borrowed from each other VERY VERY SLIGHTLY and this was Janet's breakthrough, I'm going with BAD! Everything I love about MJ overall IMO is reflected in this album perfectly.

This is my favourite MJ album, I can play it start to finish and love the melodies, lyrics, hooks, vocals, music, his look, music videos, dance moves, tour, moonwalker, how he wrote almost all the songs, the emotions, you name it. I know some say it sounds outdated and shit like that, but I do like 80's music after all, and IMO has stood the test of time. Though I love Control and all it's influences including the Minneapolis sound, out of the two, Bad has absolutely aged better.

Nasty and Pleasure Principle the songs and videos are some of Janet's best work, and I think songs like You Can Be Mine and Funny How Time Flies are underrated. I'll choose the better of the two from each album

1) Bad

2) Nasty (this one was so hard)

3) Speed Demon

4) You Can Be Mine (again so hard)

5) The Pleasure Principle (ughhhh I love Just Good Friends, that's MJ and Stevie!)

6) Another Part of Me

7) Man In The Mirror

8) I Just Can't Stop Loving You

9) Dirty Diana

The remaining are smooth criminal, leave me alone, so that's a given

I see more people liking MJ, but it makes sense that they like Janet because of The Time/Minneapolis association/sound.

Why would he do that? He grew up in a different time from Janet and was doing that for Motown all his life as a child. At Epic records, he had a mission to take on the world with his solo music. He already had an established black audience and was reaching out. He still included black producers and singers on Bad, worked with Teddy Riley, R.Kelly, Babyface etc. in the 90's

falloff

I think Michael was one of the most beautiful humans in show biz, male or female, during the Bad Tour..

Watching the Live video of Another Part Of Me was one of my first memories of being attracted to someone of the same sex. And I don't usually dig guys who wear make up or over the top clothing lol

Control by far. It gave birth to Michael's female counterpart and everything he can do, Janet can as well showing that he isn't one of a kind. Bad is a spotty album that is basically a copy of what he did on Thriller.

I like 5 songs on Bad and 8 songs on Control..... you do the math lol lol

Stevie Wonder = EARTH
Prince = WIND
Chaka Khan = FIRE
Sade = WATER

Fair point. I guess that "Girlfriend" is the only blemish.
