Hear that? It's the sound of real talent dying---this chick cannot sing, dance or do much of anything and is in the same sentence as MJ? Wow, so to be famous in this country, you don't need to do anything to actually earn it.... Kim Kardashian, Rihanna, Katy Perry and other suspects really make me wonder why someone didn't tell me a long time ago to forget going to college and make a sex tape and be on the one track rise to fame....geez

Trolls be gone!

I've got nothing but congratulations for this accomplishment. Whether I'm a big fan or not (I'm not) is not the issue, whether last minute gimmicks were used is not the issue....her label has handled this era flawlessly. FLAWLESSLY.

I really don't see her pulling off a 6th #1 but I have a feeling Janet's record will be either tied or broke once Katy's era is all over and done with too. (7 top five singles off of one album)

I really don't know why some MJ fans are so worried. MJ has lots of records. The 5 #1 singles is one of his more obscure ones. I doubt most in the public even knew he held that record. MJ still has the all time best record if you ask me which is of course having the biggest selling album of all time worldwide with "Thriller". No one's touching that one. At least not anytime soon. MJ has broken and holds several records, so I don't know why some MJ fans are threatened or acting insecure. I'm an MJ fan, but I find some of the fans behavior kind of sad.

Give credit where it's due. Times have changed and in the future i'm sure more of his records will be broken (Still don't think "Thriller" will be topped tho). Katy put out a good album which was accompanied by great music videos. I don't think she's a great talent, but her music is very catchy. She deserves her success.

^Because when it comes down to it the MJ fans always have the stats to fall back on as their last defense, this is the first dent in that.

The thing is, MJ had so many impressive records and they're being broken or tied with these days and it's not even a big deal. Because MJ's records are being broken by DIFFERENT artists all the time...Thriller had the record of being an album that has lasted on Billboard #1 for the longest(or something like that...) and Usher broke this record, and then BEP broke it in 2009. And yes Usher and BEP were both called king of pop in some articles for that. So yeah...I guess there's at least 10 kings of pop nowadays

So why underestimate Justin Bieber or any other artists...Someday they may break all records and be the new new king of pop or something...

Pop music is in deep depression, when songs such as Katy, share records with the songs of MJ.
In the '80s, '90s, even in the first half of the 00s Katy would have no chance for such success. Not one.

Interesting.....I've NEVER heard a song by this woman.

How could you have not? Especially Teenage Dream, Cali Girls, I Kissed A Girl and TGIF...

To be honest, if you go on living your life and ignore mainstream music and the radio, it's actually really easy.

I guess it is because I kind of run a bar in my basement and the radio is constantly to please our guests...I always assume everyone must know the tunes
