I was over MJ by the time history. I was a huge fan back in the 70s and 80s. Howver, don't think the later stuff holds a candle to Off the Wall, Thriller, Destiny, and Triumph.

I totally agree.... those 4 albums are Michael at his best and why I even go into MJ threads to talk about him.

Well I tend not to agree because many fans judge personal favourites as masterpieces to the point where the word loses it's meaning. There is something so try-hard about "Money" to me... There is a lot of stuff on that disc I think is try-hard. I think "They Don't Care About Us" is close to being try-hard but I love it anyway. I think "Smile" and "Little Susie" are try-hard. (Incidentally, though I love TGE, I do think that "Now" and "We March" are just as try-hard as anything on HIStory.)

Yeah, Michael really did reach sometimes on HIStory. I think Prince was reaching with The Gold Experience album as well. Both are great albums though, ruined by horrible moments of cheese, (e.g, TGE: Most Beautiful Girl, HIStory: Childhood, You Are Not Alone). The production and some of the sounds on TGE also sound really cheesy. Some moments just make me cringe.

If I got sued by a kid for molesting him and got to see that kid and his parent fuck off as soon as I paid him MONEY (which makes it obvious that what they were after from the beginning was MONEY), I'd want to write a song called "greedy motherfuckers are always only after MONEY". BUt MJ had to tone it down and called it "money"

If Money is a 'try hard' song to you, then I think you might want to rethink your definition of that term.

I just don't get how an album about some child molester being paranoid and mad at the media is entertaining to folks. Maybe one or two songs about it but a whole fuckin album??

I really can't. I like 5 songs on HIStory. Lets not talk about the chipmunk quiver to his voice and that he sung most of the songs in the exact angry manner.

LMFAO.... I only say that due to those charges being the elephant in the room in terms of this album. I don't remember none of his other albums dealing with just one topic. I'm listening to MJ on youtube as we speak and I'm trying to grasp what makes yall think he is "god".

I just feel like on a Prince forum, people shouldn't have to be beaten over the head with MJ supposedly being better. I don't go into every thread proclaiming that Prince is the ruler of heaven and earth and if you don't agree then you are delusional. That idealogy is just plain stupid to me. Prince has made his share of shitty albums but so has Michael. Prince fans will admit that but MJ fans won't which is the sad part.

Stevie Wonder is my favorite artist of all time and easily inspired both artists so the whole comparison makes no difference to me I don't deify celebrities.

In a thread on one of the MJ boards years ago I said there's other artists that are just as talented as MJ and named off Prince...they were gunning for me after that and banned me for no reason like a week later.

I'd have to go with HIStory. Though not all of the songs are fantastic, it was the first time MJ got really personal about his life throughout a whole album.

TGE is great, and I love to hear songs like 319 and Now, but other songs kinda get on my nerves, like P Control. On one hand, I really like it, and but sometimes when it comes up on my iPod I just get mad.

I don't know if you noticed this, but this subforum is called: Music: Non-Prince. If you want, you can just hang out at the 'Prince: Music and More' subforum and not have to worry about encountering any of that.
