Adele Exploring Country, Bluegrass Music [img:$uid]http://i.imgur.com/vwjso.jpg?7001[/img:$uid]
August 5, 2011
For her third album, Brit hitmaker Adele plans to employ a country/bluegrass sound.
Although the singer may have had to reschedule most of her U.S. summer tour due to laryngitis, she kept busy absorbing American music styles, and wants to use what she's learned on her forthcoming album.
"I was exposed to a lot of country, rockabilly and bluegrass," she tells The Sun of her time in the States.
"The melodies and to-the-point lyrics I have found in a lot of American styles of music is definitely something I'm going to be pursuing heavily from now on." To pull it off, the singer wants to "spend some time in Austin in Texas and Nashville, Tennessee, and learn about it," she said.
Adele, 23, says that discovering American country musicians is "like [being] a four-year-old in a candy shop who's discovering sweets again."
The singer will have a huge audience for her country creation; her smash-hit sophomore album, 21, has sold over 2.8 million copies in North America, and is the top-selling album in the world so far this year.

She'll be in for a shock... Cause Austin and Tennesee sucks when it comes to real country music... The best country music I ever heard nowadays... Comes from New York City... Australia... and Ireland

She could record there. She's real popular in Australia from what I heard.

I play she stays more on the bluegrass end of the spectrum, I honestly cannot listen to country music and I love this chick! 2012: The Queen Returns

Yeah, I'm not into country or bluegrass, so I read that like... .

She said she was influenced by Country/Bluegrass on her latest album and I was relieved to hear that it was subtle. I can't see her going full out Sugarland 2012: The Queen Returns

Maybe she'll be subtle with it the next time too, who knows. Or maybe she'll go through a super-country phase and then snap out of it. "I don't think you'd do well in captivity." - random person's comment to me the other day

As long as she stays away from David Guetta I'll be happy. 2012: The Queen Returns

I doubt she'll fully go that route either.

If Jack White produced it, it would be awesome. What he did on Loretta Lyns album was awesome.

I don't think that she will stray far from her signature sound. She may incorporate some sprinklings of country/bluegrass elements but I doubt that it will be a total 360 new sound for her. Even if she wanted to, her label won't let her , trust.
They are not going to risk alienating the millions who are purchasing her sound now for a risk of getting the country folk on the bandwagon.

Which should hinder her lock on being a pop star. Good, I say. Much as I can appreciate her upstaging Gaga, I can only take so much of her.
