Producer: Rihanna Finalizing New Album [img:$uid]http://i.imgur.com/TQRvD.jpg[/img:$uid] July 30, 2011
Even though she is still releasing singles from her latest album Loud, Rihanna is planning to drop her sixth studio album soon, maybe even later this year.
In a recent interview with MTV’s Mixtape Daily, one of the project’s producers says the forthcoming set is closing soon, which would continue Rihanna’s chronicle in releasing an album every year since being signed by Jay-Z to Def Jam.

One thing I love about Rihanna is the speed in which her records come out. I'm excited to hear more new stuff from her! 2012: The Queen Returns

That's the part that actually surprised me, like "So soon?".
I'm used to artists releasing new cds like once every four or five years or something .

"artist" being the operative word.

I notice that the writers/producers who always talk to the media first before today's artists (ie Beyonce, Rihanna) release new music never seem to have contributions on albums.

Just a case of striking while the iron is hot. My guess is that the machine that is behind Rihanna doesn't expect her to have longevity, and so they churn out a new album on her every year to make as much money on her while she can still turn a profit. She'd be easily replaced if she took a two year hiatus.

I think they underestimate her. She appears to have a hell of a fanbase, actually. "I don't think you'd do well in captivity." - random person's comment to me the other day

There used to be a time when an artist did release an album every year. It was during the 80's when they started taking 2 or more years between albums and it's been that way ever since.

Albums were expected to be longer too though. Maybe we should go back to the annual eight song LP. (Reminds me of Fame Monster which was considered an EP.)

This is pretty cool. She is a product for sure. It's just refreshing to see that neither her or the executives she works with think her every release is an epic masterpiece that must be milked for 3-4 years like is the case with so many others. That's how it used to be like with pop music.
She's herself probably just excited to get to try some new looks.

I'm not old by any means but I simply do NOT understand what the hype is about this chick. Her singing, if you wanna call it that, is horrible. She has no stage presence and cannot dance to save her life. The few clips I've seen of her "concerts" look like she just learned the dance steps the day before. Is she the embodiment of today's culture of not really needing talent or hardwork to be "famous"? it seems like even having the APPEARANCE of having money is enough draw for people to be "fans" of an artist, without really seeing any talent. Trolls be gone!

And that road completely took the steam out of Christina's career. 2012: The Queen Returns
