Better Vocalist: George Michael or Steve Perry? Ok, George is more well known and has more "hits" but I'm not sure if he's a better "flat out" vocalist/singer than Steve Perry. Steve can GO too! Just wanted to hear some opinions on these two soulful vocalists

Steve Perry's voice is more powerful, in terms of volume.
George Michael's is just more pleasing to listen to and more emotive, and for me that's more important so out of the two of them Michael takes it imo. Which isn't to say I'm anti-Perry, because I do love that song "Oh Sherry".

They both have very soulful voices & U can feel the emotion in there songs they sing. But an artist that can write & sing & play instruments always gets me... will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that wasn't of this earth, would not have been that surprised. R.I.P.

George Michael, by a mile. Although Steve has move volume, George's voice is more soulfull and rich sounding. "Love is like peeing in your pants, everyone sees it but only you feel its warmth"

George Michael is a nice singer and all, but Steve Perry? My wife and I were just discussing how he's got one of the greatest and most loved voices in rock history. George Micheal just makes me think of urinals.

Both of their voices are great but Steve Perry 's voice was more suitable for rock while George was more pop than soul.

That's like comparing Jackson and Presley, Two totally different artist who shine in their own way. I'm a fan of both it's a tie. Just Music-No Categories-Enjoy It!

well thought out response(s). i think i need to hear more Perry to make a decision. I think George's diversity of material bodes well for him too

I know you just didn't compare the bombastic vocal soulfulness of Steve Perry to the more laid-back just as soulful vocals of George Michael.

Please, what does somebody's private life has to do with how he sings? It happened 15 years ago, let it go....
Never heard of Steve Perry by the way, probably shame on me....

Journey!!!
My vote is for Steve Perry, however much I love GM. 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

Not too familiar with Journey but George Michael is ACE so he gets my biased pick. Stevie Wonder = EARTH
Prince = WIND Chaka Khan = FIRE Sade = WATER the ELEMENTS of MUSIC

Both amazing, but I think GM is more versatile. Perry's stuff is pretty much all the same. Great, but all the same. * * *

Steve Perry.
He's just amazing when he sings.
GM is really, really good too. But, I could see Steve Perry one-upping him even with soulful tracks like "Jesus as a Child"
Don't get me wrong, I love GM's voice. But Steve Perry's is just amazing.

I prefer George Michael's singing. His inflections and other nuances, great tone and vocal control.
Steve Perry's appeal was diminished significantly, when I discovered so much of his style was patterned off of this guy:
Just made me want to hear the original do it better.
