Ashanti blooms in the desert in a new promo photo for her forthcoming album, her first since 2008’s The Declaration. The R&B singer strikes a fierce pose against a rock, flaunting her fit physique in a black-and-gold top and flowing gold dress as she stares into the distance.

She has been in the studio with big names including Dr. Dre, Game, and Lil Wayne. A new single is expected in August. The new body of work was inspired by her time in Los Angeles and real-life experiences. Tracks include “Paradise” and “She Can’t".

Their are plenty of R&B that singers that sing BETTER than Beyonce ex. Chrisette Michelle, Jill Scott, etc.. She isnt the bench mark for anything. Ashanti simply can't sing even though she had catchy songs. I dont think B is to blame, Ashanti simply just didnt have the marketing team. It seemed over the years music was something Ashanti really didnt care that much about. Last I heard she was on broadway playing Dorothy in The Wiz.

She looks nice in the picture though.

If she features a jam like "Only You" on her new album then its all good. That song was HAWT! The guitar riff alone made it worthy. Did Channel 7 (Mark Vest) really play the guitar or was that just a look for the video. Love that video.

She's always been gorgeous.

I liked some of the stuff she came out with a few years ago alot so I'm kinda rooting for her and eager to see what she's come up with.

The guitar wasn't a prop. He's proficient on guitar, bass and drums.

Only You is my fucking shit I always fantasized Prince playing the guitar riff on a live version of that song ... just pop up blaze it all distorted and shit and pimp walk off the stageI like the video to it too.

Her voice is weak but I don't expect to hear her belting out like a real true singer. She is a more Pop singer with a lil bit of hip hop and R&B...she actually reminds me of a baby Janet even her beauty...you wonder why she wasn't so successful as Beyonce or Rihanna...well when I think of it...those two are so in your face right now that I'm curious to see what Ashanti has to offer.

Pretty girl trying to be a model. A subpar America's Next Top Model candidate.

She isn't even all that pretty.... your average girl next door. She can't sing, her performances are a joke and her songwriting sounds like a girl going through puberty who is lovesick in her bedroom. I just never got the appeal. Her music sounds like unfinished demos that another artist/label rejected and she put out just to get some money.
