this is so sad that i know this but...frenchie was kicked off for involvement in some online porn company. There was a story in USA Today. I did not read anything about drugs but, hey, anything is possible!

But the network has bounced an "American Idol" contestant because the woman once posed nude for an Internet porn site.

Frenchelle "Frenchie" Davis, the 23-year-old singer canned by Fox, was a fan favorite and had been tabbed last week by Entertainment Weekly as one of the program's leading six contenders. According to a TSG source, Davis posed topless (and appeared to be masturbating) on "Daddy's Little Girls," a web site that purported to feature naked underage girls (which, of course, would be illegal). However, at the time she posed for these photos, Davis was over 18. The Washington, D.C. native has claimed that she took the topless gig to earn money so that she could re-enroll in Howard University, where she is a theater major. In a recent interview, when asked about the proudest moment of her life, Davis said, "Other than getting back in school after not having the money and not being there for a year," American Idol "has been the proudest moment 'cause I worked so hard."

All traces of Davis's involvement in "American Idol" have been stripped from Fox's web site, a banishment nearly as abrupt as the ones delivered by judge Simon Cowell. The network's decision to can Davis has been blasted by followers of the show who have been flooding fan sites with complaints. A typical beef--posted in an online petition calling for Davis's reinstatement--stated, "American Idol will no longer hold my interest if Frenchie Davis is gone. She was the voice and talent. Every other contestant is extremely(!) bland, boring and not the least bit intriguing. Give America what they want and bring Frenchie Davis back!"

With her brassy voice and large frame, Davis has drawn comparisons to Aretha Franklin. In describing Davis and fellow contestant Kimberley Locke, Entertainment Weekly wrote, "From the second these two bodacious beauties strutted their stuff on stage, all those navel-baring lightweights should have headed home." A Fox spokesperson told USA Today, which first reported Davis's departure, that the singer will be replaced on the February 25 "American Idol" telecast.

I am VERY disappointed Frenchie was disqualified. In my opinion, she was the best.

It makes me angry that they'd disqualify her for being involved with some porn company years ago, yet they alledgedly had no problems with (and didn't disqualify...) a previous contestant who was a stripper.Totally unfair.

I understand AI is concerned about protecting their image and how a potential "American Idol" could reflect on the show, but they don't seem very consistent in why or why not they choose to kick off a contestant.

I agree that AI should'nt of given her the boot ...but really...Frenchie was too good for AI...she does not need that AI title following her for the rest of her life...she's gonna blow up on her own...one way or another...we will hear about Frenchie!!!

IMO - This show sucks but if someone gets a break they normally wouldn't have then that's great.

Well, Britney Spears & Christina Aguilera are "american idols", right?
Bottomline: it's yet another jive-ass FOX show, I don't see why so many people love this stuff, it seems they're more concerned about image and not how good the person actually is.

I was watching the Jimmy Kimmel Show (heaven help me!) and they said that Kelly Clarkson was in a gay porn! She had one scene (which they showed) were she is talking to some guy. I don't even know if it was a porn, but I find it sad that they didn't say anything about that. It also might have been an unfunny joke.

Anwyay, I had only a little interest in the show but know lost it all. How stupid to kick off the best singer for something like this. She even said that she told them right away! This is crap.

Frenchie won't be affected by this. Any publicity for an up and coming artist is good publicity. She'll rise above all this drama and snag a record deal. She has the chops to back her up. I don't see her falling because of her past, Lord knows there's a lot of dirrty cats creeping in the industry as it is. The Ent. Industry aren't angels.
