Both of these albums came out in '91. Both had hits, so with that said.....If you had to choose one, which would you go pick?

I'm going with "Dangerous".

And D&P has too much filler to even be considered a solid album. And it's really cheesy production wise.

Diamonds and Pearls. Dangerous has some great tracks on it, but none of them aged well. Diamonds and Pearls has some truly awful tracks, but I can still listen to the good ones.

Okay now that you know I'm kidding....I don't own Diamonds and Pearls, but I really really love Gett Off, the title track and I think 7. It looks like it was a very good era for him. How do you not love a video where Diamond and Pearl meet the way they did?

And yes, Dangerous is the one I go with, I call it my favourite MJ album along with Bad from the Epic years.

You should really buy D&P, 7 is on the Symbol album.

yeah I see myself enjoying it though the only 90's Prince albums I have and cared for upon listening are Chaos & Disorder, The Hits and New Power Soul, but will give it a proper listen

I was thinking about this thread and then I thought it all boiled down to what kind of album people preferred:

12 same shit as usual songs vs. 2, genuinely, shitty songs.

Diamonds and Pearls is one of the most disappointing Prince albums but I will still take it over Dangerous. There is not much of the adventurous Prince that I love on Diamonds and Pearls but there are still enough glimpses of him that I prefer it to Dangerous. Too many of the songs on Dangerous overstay their welcome.

i think theyre both quit weak albums.

gett off, strollin, willing and able, DP, insatiable, cream are great tracks

on dangerous i like remember the time and who is it. the other tracks are okay if i would hear them on the radio, but will never play them myself. the new jack swing part i dont really feel except for remember the time. the production seemed to full and 2 percussive and too much funny sounding. and the other typical later MJ songs i never really felt, the ballads and earth heal the world type of songs.

so i guess i have to go with DP

I am obviously a bigger Prince fan buti will take Dangerous. I love some of the songs on Diamonds and Pearls but the lesser stuff is awful, and while there is some filler on dangerous, nothing on it is as bad as Jughead

So yeah Dangerous wins

Nothing on Dangerous is smoother than "Money Don't Matter 2 Night". And nothing is sexier than "Insatiable". And I didn't even mention "Diamonds and Pearls".

Hold the fuck up. If you people want to compare something, compare 1999 to Thriller. Or Sign O' The Times to Bad.

Hmmm, an interesting question.

I would have to say D&P. I love Dangerous, but D&P is more interesting IMO. The songs are more diverse and each song is different. I find some of the songs on Dangerous to sound much the same.
