Well yeah, but they still thought that Jermaine and others were the saner siblings.

Were they after the memorial? I read posts where the family was heavily criticized for what they did with Michael's kids and the arrangement of both the televised memorial and the funeral shortly thereafter.

I am not sure cause when the memorial took place, I was at a dance camp where there was no TV or internet. There was so much craziness going on back then that I might have missed certain things. Anyway, I've heard that they were criticed for putting up Paris to speak. I don't think they made her talk, I think she wanted to.

But i was just thinking about it today cause the Oprah special with Katherine aired today where she asked her if she thought it was better for them to be out there in the public and she said yes. Well, of course, naturally they should attend their fathers funeral, but as many other people who were close to him like LMP, Elizabeth etc., they could have let them go only to the private one cause the funeral wasn't public, was it? I've seen only few short clips from it of them coming in and then putting the crown on the coffin, but that was a shot taken by a helicopter or something.

As much as I don't care about the tribute, why do you think it's a problem that it takes place in the middle of the Murray trial? That it would take attention from it or that it would make a bigger profit just because Mike would be a headline news once again?

Jackson Family Divided Over MJ Tribute Concert

Jermaine and Randy Jackson are DEAD SET against the Michael Jackson tribute concert announced today by members of the Jackson family ... calling it "inappropriate" and "ill-timed."

Katherine, La Toya, Jackie, Tito and Marlon all attended a press conference today to announce the show in Cardiff, Wales on October 8. Katherine said it would be a "world-class event."

But Jermaine and Randy don't see it that way -- releasing their own statement against the concert, saying, "We find it impossible to support an event that is due to take place during the criminal trial surrounding Michael's death ... We feel it is inappropriate to be involved with such an ill-timed event."

As of now, tickets go on sale August 4. The family has not announced who will be performing at the show.

This is getting more and more weird...

The company Global Live (who organises the show) started a trust fund for MJ's kids and handed a 100 000$ check to an emotional Katherine...

Since when does MJ's kids need a trust fund? They have the Estate taking care of their future already.. and why KJ so emotional about it like they were in the middle of a famine?

I mean.. why give the kids 100 000$... if this is a charity show.. give it to the charities! OR.. maybe the 100 000$ given to 'the kids' will in fact serve to pay the Estate (i.e. future of the kids) to have permission to do the show...

oh lawd... using the kids again to make it look so cute and valuable... I feel sick...

I swear... that family... disbelief

The Jackson family (Katherine leading) just announced a tribute concert for Oct 8th in UK....

Tickets will be on sale in 11 days BUT

2 steps to follow to 'get' a ticket..

You have to register first and write the donation you're willing to give to the 2 charities involved with the show..

The higher your donation is, the better is your chance to be chosen to buy your ticket...

When you buy your ticket, the amount of your donation is taken at the same time of your ticket payment...

THAT MEANS 0% of your ticket price will go to charities, all will go to Jackson's family...

what a way to make money.. or 'help' charities...

Can't believe them...

This made me think of the bullshit fans originally had to go through to get a ticket for the Victory Tour.

I'm interested to see how exactly this is going to play out ..

Several members of Michael Jackson's family held a press conference in Beverly Hills on Monday (July 25) morning to announce a tribute concert for their brother, who died two years ago. Aside from a location, a date and a name for the event, the famous family played coy with the details.

Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' Jacket To Go On Tour

Set for Oct. 8, "Michael Forever: The Tribute Concert" will take over Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, where organizers Global Live Events hopes to attract 75,000 fans. Just what fans will be hearing will be announced online in small increments over the next two weeks. Tickets go on sale on Aug. 4.

The King of Pop's siblings Marlon, Jackie, Tito and La Toya, as well as family matriarch Katherine, attended the announcement. The 81-year-old Katherine said the concert would be a "world-class event" and a fitting tribute to her son, who died in 2009 at age 50.

Michael's brothers did not take questions at the announcement and would not confirm if they would be performing. According to Global Live Events, the concert be broadcast over the Web live in both 2D and 3D.

Michael Jackson 'This Is It' Outtakes Disputed in Court Case

"I know my brother would be very, very proud to see all the artists that he admired and respected so much coming together for this event," Tito Jackson said.

La Toya Jackson promised that the "tribute will be something that's spectacular."

Father Joe and siblings Janet, Jermaine and Randy were not in attendance.

Before fans can get too excited about traveling to Wales, there may be a legal fight ahead. The executor's of Michael Jackson's estate have not been approached about the use of the singer's name, estate spokesman Jim Bates told CNN shortly after the press conference.

I'm with you on that one...

and as for Joe, I'M SURE he's somewhere on the picture, but more behind the scene.. it's all made for us to think this is gonna work, no Jermaine, no Joe, no Randy, presence of the Jacksons we love the most (Jackie, Tito, Marlon), a nice website that actually says nothing, a press conference to announce nothing (no artists announcement, only in 10 days), no proper and easy ticket buying, only in 11 days... and depending only on how much you're willing to donate), exposing MJ's kids so it looks even cuter (poor kids, I hope they realise how they are being used against their dad's will.. by his own parents and siblings!)

This is all a huge mascarade that will again go nowhere... or maybe it will, since recently Katherine said that there is no reason to think the Estate has anything to do with MJ's death... funny how she changed her mind and is being nice to the Estate now that the tribute show is coming...

Yes Katherine is as bad as Joe, we see it now, the belt signing by the kids.. the fake HTW foundation with kids appearance, bringin to kids to Oprah (brrrr)... she's no better, unfortunately. I respect the fact that Michael loved her... but damn we see her real face now.. and still she hides her mistakes behing her husband or dumb porno producer's (Mann) incompetence...

This is all so sad... And Jermaine... I liked how he tried to tell the believers that Michael is really dead, and I have to like that he says he's not ok with the tribute being during the trial... I hope he really means it, that it's not just because he didn't get a candy out of it.. but it's Jermaine...

You know someone has to say this.

Is any one else totally fatigued and irritated by white / non black folk on the org commenting on black reality, black expression and the black experience as if they have authority on the matter?

They'll continue to do it because black folk are an easy target until they regain their former position and place in the world...

People of colour assert themselves, and it's called 'arrogant' to these people. Well then, I say more 'arrogance' is needed and much more besides...

Oh, but feel free to disagree with me folk, coz I really don't give a f**k on this one.

I long for the day when these people can just be ignored.

Until then expect to see more white whine.

Sorry but can't believe this offensive bullshit wasn't commented on more!!

I'm a day behind but re Jarvis getting on stage before Michael did the 'Jesus' bit, I think I remember reading at the time that alot of the performers watched Michael rehearsing.

A question for Bboy...

To me releasing The Victory Tour on dvd has always been a no brainer, I assumed it hadn't been because Michael either owned the rights or they all had to be in agreement?? If that is the case surely the Estate will look at that as a possible release?

Jackson tribute concert planned in Wales in Oct.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Michael Jackson's mom and four of his siblings announced plans Monday for a tribute concert later this year in Wales, but two of the late singer's brothers say they oppose the timing of the show.

The pop singer's mother, Katherine Jackson, and siblings La Toya Jackson, Marlon Jackson, Jackie Jackson and Tito Jackson said the show is scheduled for Oct. 8 at Millennium Stadium but did not reveal any performers.

Within hours of their announcement of "Michael Forever — The Tribute Concert" at a Beverly Hills hotel, brothers Jermaine Jackson and Randy Jackson released a statement that said they opposed the show because it will be held during the trial of a doctor charged in their brother's death.

"While we wholeheartedly support the spirit of a tribute that honors our brother, we find it impossible to support an event that is due to take place during the criminal trial surrounding Michael's death," the brothers wrote in a statement posted on each of their Twitter accounts.

Jury selection in the involuntary manslaughter trial of Dr. Conrad Murray is scheduled to begin on Sept. 8, with opening statements later in the month. The case is expected to last four to six weeks.

"There will come a time and place for an amazing and deserving tribute to Michael," the brothers' statement read. "But we feel that the most important tribute we can give to our brother at this time is to seek justice in his name."

Michael Jackson's mother and siblings had indicated they would attend all the proceedings, but Katherine Jackson said in a statement Monday that she would be at the tribute concert. She said the event would be a fitting tribute for her son, who died unexpectedly on June 25, 2009, at age 50.

A previous tribute concert in Europe planned by Jermaine Jackson in the months after his brother's death was scuttled after promoters ran into problems and some of the singers listed as performers said they had scheduling conflicts.

Hey everyone, I've been reading this thread and the other one for quite some time and everything is just so interesting, but I got intrigued by BabyBeMine and her/his posts about MJ getting faded in the back seat of his limo, getting drunk and him getting a "yep yep" by a female many times...

wow, I never knew this side of MJ, but I'd really like to know more about that. When did that happen in the early 2000s, late 90s, were there other women MJ hung out with, where did he find these women, what other stories do you know about him and women?

[Edited 7/25/11 7:28am]

Who knows what was true or not. A lot of what was said in a few posts was always "i have it on good information" but never actually substantiated. I'm not saying it didn't happen but when quizzed for more info, there was never more offered up. So who knows.

Hate to be skeptical but I don't see any tribute concert organised by the family as getting off the ground.

I'd rather see The Estate or AEG organise something with top notch performers. Ensuring it is all above board and runs smoothly. Sadly with the family involved I just don't put any weight in anything they say - who would announce a concert without saying who is performing? Who are the draw cards.

I also think a tribute concert should be held off now anyway. I think holding it at the 5th anniversary mark would be better than the 2 1/4 year mark, lol.

I agree with this. I'm wondering who they have lined up to perform, they certainly are keeping mum on it. I dont see any really big artists wanting to be a part of this thing. And the way things are going I wouldnt be surprised if they included Prince, Paris and Blanket in the performing lineup.

A bit of digging...

It will raise money for three charities including the Los Angeles-based Aids Project.

Wasn't this La Toya's charity of choice in The Celebrity Apprentice?

Speaking of charities - has the estate clarified which charities benefit from MJ's passing.

nod Yes. According to her it was one of Michael's favorite charities, and when he passed she took over to make sure to continue his work with the charity.
