Yeah,I can't wait for this CD! I've already heard a few tracks, like "Do It For Love" and "Heartbreak Time",which is one of their best, most soulful songs ever.I really enjoyed their last CD 'Marigold Sky' (1997),so I will definitely buy the new one.

Oh yeah, they've never really stopped recording and touring. They occasionally do solo albums (John Oates just released a solo CD several months ago). They released their last CD 'Marigold Sky' in 1997,on the independent label Push Records. In 2000,they were planning to sign a new contract with Sony, but it didn't work out.So now they are back with a new CD 'Do It For Love'.

LOL...well,as you know,Tommy Mottola was their manager back in the 70s,so coming back to Sony would have been like a "homecoming" for them.

That's the problem. Fuck sales. Artistic integrity is what it should be about.

Yes,this new album contains three tunes that already appear on the 'VH-1 Behind The Music' compilation...

"Somebody Like You"
"Heartbreak Time"
"Do It For Love"

But,I think the songs have been re-worked,so they will sound slightly different.

The first single "Forever For You" is doing well on the Adult Contemporary charts.

The CD will be released on a small independent label called U-Watch Records. So far, this label has done a decent job promoting the first single "Forever For You",which has done well on the Adult Contemporary charts. The title track was a sizable hit last year,so all signs point to a noticeable comeback for Daryl Hall and John Oates with this CD.

You see sales COULD reach triple figures if the band is given support and the material is good. It matters nothing that they had their heydey 20 years ago. People remember Hall & Oates and if the material is good and the label is supportive 1000 copies is never out of reach.

On a related note:

I live in the New York metro area and a few months back, some local station showed a H & O concert from Philly. It was a recent show I think. Anyway, they closed the show with this song I didn't recognize, and it was IN-F*CKING-CREDIBLE!!!

If anyone has seen or is familiar with this concert and knows what piece of music this is, PLEASE ORGNOTE ME!!! I HAVE TO HAVE THIS!!!

Well,I've been listening to this CD for the last couple of days and I'm impressed. There are no surprises here. There are no guest rappers,no techno beats,no chart-topping guest stars, and no gimmicks. This is just Hall and Oates doing what they do best, catchy rock/pop tracks and soulful R&B ballads.Basically,if you liked their 1990 'A Change Of Seasons' album,or their 1997 'Marigold Sky' album, you will love this new one too. There's alot of acoustic guitar here.

The guys get funky on "Miss DJ",which is reminiscent of some of their 70s stuff."Someday We'll Know" is a lovely remake of the New Romantics song and it features Todd Rundgren."She Got Me Bad" is just begging to be a future single, with it's addictive chorus. But it's the slower tracks that steal the show here."Breath Of Your Life","Intuition" and especially "Heartbreak Time" are superb, the type of Philly-influenced blue-eyed soul that these guys specialize in.

There are a few bland tracks with sterile production, but overall, this is a strong album.Like I said before, there are no surprises here and this album doesn't really take them in any new directions. But,it's a mellow, soothing collection of songs, just what the world needs right now.
