How does any James Brown record sound like Prince. It's more like Prince sounding like James.

As for TLC, "Waterfalls" sounds more like Prince than "Dear Lie" or "Unpretty" to me.

JB is the most consistent an noticeble influience that you can hear in quite a few prince songs .. maybe IM REAL was kinda inspired by that more keyboard based funk that prince got goin in the 80s ... aS 4 TLC .. Waterfalls an a few others have the sound .. But I personally hear it more in ''Unpretty'' an ''Dear Lie'' to the point I thought he coulda wrote an produced em ... UNPRETTY an MY COMPUTER sound like they came outta the same session

I forgot about that Justin song Until The End of Time, a TOTAL Prince knock-off! I wanted to strangle those who didn't know that when I first heard it.

I only solidly endorse the man himself when it comes to his "sound". He's simply too diverse and his impact has been myriad on myraid artists........that's laudible...but can be VERY hard to nail down. All pop is derivative in some form.

You don't need to be a '' true connoissuer'' of the mplsound - These are lists of songs that people thing have the ''prince sound'' .. Which maybe ''diverse'' but not so damn diverse really ... cos whatever he does there is a similar sound that is present .. So aint like a various artists sound

alot of people do RnB .. but hardly any have that distinctive prince sound .. same with rock. pop .. funk etc etc .... its simple about songs that you can imagine Prince doing/writing himself
