I can think of these:

Laurnea, "Infatuation" (She actually sing and sound like Prince)

Duran Duran, "Skin Trade" (Hah, is that Simon le Bon doing a Prince impersonnation or what?)

[Edited 6/4/11 17:44pm]

Sam Sparro, "Hot Mess"

Brian McKnight's "Love of My Life", Alicia's "Like You Never See Me Again" and Marsha Ambrosius' "Late Nights and Early Mornings".

You know what I love this thread because I hear Prince's influence in so much music. Most of it not obvious links.
Shut up already, damn.

It's like, the people who always make these kind of threads aren't true connoissuers of the mplsound to begin with, and they always post shit that doesn't make any sense by comparison.

I'm always interested in something new, especially stuff like this, but those who want to know already know.

Alas, the title is 'prince sound', and his sound ranges dramatically, so I wanted to resist the urge to say something negative, but most of these are fucking stupid. Especially the songs listed by the thread starter.

I don't hear a Prince sound in many of the songs listed....Candyman? Dear lie? Not that kind?

Seems like every song ever released has that Prince sound! lol

I have to agree with u and mplsfunq, there is distinctive Prince sound other than the minneapolis sound..hence because it is the most recognizeble Prince sound of his creation. All those other songs he posted disbelief

We know that Prince has an array of music; however the Prince sound...IS THE Minneapolis Sound. U cannot really expand beyond that.

I know the song don't have any of the prince sound but, the last like 40 seconds does. It's been said that questlove along a few others recorded that at Paisley Park and they used some of Prince's old equipment that was in the basement.

I like this. It also kinda has that Gap Band "Early in the Morning" feel to it.

Yes, he played on that song not the last 40 seconds.

Imaginative

Beck's "Debra" off of Midnight Vultures sounds so much like a Prince track that I always considered it an homage. A few other songs on that album seem to have a Prince influence, but none as obvious as that one.

Ebonee Webb for sure with Something About You, Anybody Wanna Dance,

and Here My Love Is. Micheal Winston had a nice falsetto.

Why You Wanna Trip On Me, In the Closet, Superfly Sister-Michael Jackson

Love Will Never Do Without You, Miss You Much, Escapade, If It Takes All Night, He Doesn't Even Know I'm Alive, What Have You Done For Me Lately, This Time, Luv 2 Luv, You Aint Right-Janet Jackson

@Janet Well her producers were 2 members of The Time

@Michael: Dangerous (Which has Why You Wanna Trip On Me and In The Closet) as a whole has that Prince sound. The 1st time I ever heard Supafly Sister (surprisingly it was on the radio once) I thought it was Prince attemting Camille again lol
