Off the Wall - MJ's Best Album?

It's certainly the funkiest! I'm pumping it loud right now while drinking a few beers.

It's SO FUNKY!

Whooo!

So, do you agree?

Yeah,I would agree that 'Off The Wall' is his best album. There isn't a bad song anywhere on it.My favorite songs are...

***"I Can't Help It"---man,I love this song!! It's so dreamy and hypnotic. It was written by Stevie Wonder, maybe that's why I love it so much...lol...

***"It's The Falling In Love"---another gem from this album. It's amazing to me that this song, and "I Can't Help It" were never released as singles. They're the best things on the album, imo.

I think it is, but unlike DavidEye I think it's let down by its soppy second half. Its shift from inspired disco-funk to adult contemporary sap is a real shame, although it is somewhat salvaged by the final track. In its best moments, though, it really does sound fresh for its years.

Probably Dangerous cuz it was the height of my love for him. I liked him since I was a kid, but that was when I became a fan. And I was never as into him after that album with subsequent releases.

Any album of any artist that I can just put on and let play is their greatest to me and this one is it. I cannot play Thriller or Dangerous all the way through. But Off the Wall with its "Can't Help It", It's The Falling In Love" and "She's Out of My Life, etc.", is card game playing music from beginning to end.

Tough call! I don't really have a favourite MJ album, my favourite tracks are spread over all of his albums. Thriller obviously had some brilliant moments too, so did Bad (admit it!) and so did Dangerous. Even "Invincible" had a few gems ...

Dangerous will always be my favorite. As soon as I hear the shattering glass at the beginning of Jam, I'm in a trance (although it's interrupted a bit by Heal The World). If the album was pared down to sixty minutes or so, it would be sheer perfection for me. As it stands, it's still probably my most listened to album of the nineties. Anyway, here's how I would rank them:

Dangerous
Off The Wall
Thriller
Bad

End.

I Can't Help and Its The Falling In Love are my fave from that lp simply becoz they're mellow and they set my mood so easily whenever I play them. I love Patti Austin's voice sooo much, she kinda reminds me a bit of Ella Fitzgerald.

But my FAVE LP from the man is "BAD" thats how I knew MJ nod and the remastered CD is something you couldn't mess with too.

funny you mention Ella Fitzgerald because Patti Austin is doing a Tour of Covering Her Material.there was a Great Story on 60 Minutes 11 about Patti talking about covering Ella.

1. Dangerous
2. Off the Wall
3. Tie (Thriller\Invincible)

Dangerous was first real R&B album since Off the Wall. I remember hearing it the first time and being blown away. I was like "Damn Mike's getting funky again!" While Off the Wall contains two of MJ's best singles ever (Don't Stop and Rock With You) outside of the title track, Working Day and Night and Lady In My Life, I'm not overly moved by anything else. That's still a hell of an album though when you line those tracks up. I rank Invincible with Thriller based on two songs. Butterflies and Rock My World. I put those up with my two favs on Thriller (PYT & Baby Be Mine) Billie Jean, Beat It and Thriller just aren't any better to me than Heartbreaker, Heaven Can Wait, Break Of Damn and Whatever Happened. Truthfully Invincible was Michaels best ever album for slow jams. But everyone has their own tastes and these happen to be mine.

Dangerous is my favorite MJ album.
Off The Wall comes in second... if it weren't for Girlfriend, it would be a tie.

"Off the Wall" is his best, but "Bad" is probably my favorite. "Leave Me Alone," "Smooth Criminal" and "Dirty Diana" are essential.

No matter what anyone says, Lady In My Life and Human Nature are his two GREATEST ballads (followed closely by I Can't Help It and Butterflies). So, although I love OTW, it's at least tied for as his best along with the Thriller album!
